Product Description:

This app is used to edit the apache configuration files. Useful if you use your computer as a web server and would like to easily configure it.

What's new in this version:

  • Name has changed from Webserver Configuration to Web Control.
  • New icon.
  • Multiple selection is now available.
  • Dragging or pasting any of the configuration directives into a text editor will show what they look like in the actual configuration file.
  • Fixed a few issues with undo/redo support.
  • Row height has been increased so that it is easier to read the directives/values without having to resiize the window to ridiculous width.
  • Added an “Open Quicklyâ€? menu to the File menu. This will display all of the configuration files Web Control is able to find in the httpd config directory.
  • Now able to open multiple configuration files, instead of only the httpd.conf file.
  • Able to change the location of the httpd config directory. Previously, it was assumed to be at /etc/httpd with no way to change this. Same goes for the apachectl script.
  • If the application is not authorized, editing of the configuration file is now allowed. Previously, this was allowed, even though saving of the file was not.
  • Background colors and comment colors are now user settable in the preferences.
  • Greatly enhanced the parsing engine. Web Control can really open any file with an extension of .conf now. (This is not, of course, encouraged.)
  • Authorization button updated to look more like 10.3's authorization view.
  • Many, many internal code improvements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

Web Control ReviewGreat beginnings! Looking forward to more. - Version: 1.0.8, 1/13/2007 10:31PM PST

Already useful and lots of potential in this application-specfiic editor app.

This could reduce the potential for errors that one might make using a general-purpose text editor.

Web Control ReviewPotentially Brilliant... - Version: 1.0.7, 1/13/2007 08:11AM PST

Deep Blue--2008
If this application hand an interface more atune to a database/record system, whereby one could 'navigate' though the Apache httpd.conf file via. nested pop-ups for each Apache directive, then it would be totally invaluable!

I've tried to create the same idea as a prototype design in FileMaker using XML by example.

Web Control ReviewVery Handy - Version: 1.0.7, 2/17/2006 07:17AM PST

and the price is right, but it would really benefit from a simple search feature to save having to scroll through the long config file looking for a parameter. Also, the current version is 1.0.8, not 1.0.7. The editing UI is a bit non-standard but not hard to get used to.
