Cepstral Voices CommentaryBad set-up routine - Version: 5.1, 9/19/2009 09:24AM PST

Note the installer does not have the courtesy to inform us ahead of time that a re-start will be needed.

Why, oh why, do 99% of installers not give us the option "ok. I'll do it later."

It's been over a year since an update. As you can see in the reviews below, that's over a year of uncorrected problems. But for me, a text-to-speech user for over 15 years, there is a bigger glaring problem:

Why I don't like Cepstral: Test the voices and compare their inflections versus Apple's MacInTalk/PlainTalk/Speech voices. The Cepstral voices are brain dead when it comes to question marks versus periods versus exclamation marks. You'd send a real person to the psychiatrist for not comprehending the difference. Example?

I heard your house is on fire.
I heard your house is on fire?
I heard your house is on fire!

Apple's voices know the difference. Not an iota of difference in inflection with Cepstral voices. BAD. Not acceptable IMHO, which is why I avoid them.
