Product Description:

Macs Cue is a sound player designed for theatre use. You create a cue sheet containing all the sounds you want to play, then hit the space bar to play each one. Cues can be chained, and can be set to stop or fade other cues when started.

What's new in this version:

  • Several playback bugs fixed.
  • You can now drag files directly from iTunes.
  • Added "Reveal in Finder" command.
  • The volume controls now only respond when you click on the knob. Clicking anywhere else in the volume control has no effect. This should reduce the chances of accidentally setting a cue's volume.
  • The volume control moves in realtime during fades.
  • Cues whose sound file is on a removable drive are now marked with a yellow striped background, to warn you that they may be slow in starting.
  • The window can be resized shorter than the height of the options drawer.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or higher

Macs Cue Troubleshooting ReportWeird looped playback bug and/or feature request! - Version: 1.2, 11/24/2006 04:45PM PST

Hey there, I've been noticing a weird bug with looping cues; if the next cue is triggered just as the current cue is looping, it restarts the looping cue at full volume (rather distressing during a show, as you might be able to guess!)

I also want to make a bit of a feature request; perhaps we could get event cues (fades linked to specific cues that have no actual sound associated with them, for example); also perhaps some sort of crossfading for looping cues; makes it easier to loop sounds cues quickly.

Thanks so much! I love this program to death.

Macs Cue ReviewThis thing keeps getting better... - Version: 1.2, 9/15/2006 02:41PM PST

While not as full featured as some other programs out there that claim to do the same thing, this program works and works CONSISTENTLY, which is of prime importance in any stage performance setting.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a quirky program; you can't have cues that are actions rather than sounds (so I keep a short file of silence around to cue fade outs), but it's still the best damn thing around, and it keeps getting better. I was excited to see this new upgrade, and I'm already implementing it for a show I'm designing.

I've found that I can just chuck this program on any machine with a new enough operating system and run a show from it. It's great.

Here's 5 stars to help push for even more development!

I found Macs Cue by accident. I was looking for this type of app for a long time but all i got was 'Alphabet Soup'. :-( Macs Cue however, is excellent! I hope they keep improving it because it has the right feel to it. Now, if only i found Macs Cue earlier, but i guess this is a hidden gem....
