Microsoft PST Import ReviewWill not work with PC PST files - Version: 1.0.0, 12/17/2006 03:19PM PST

To save you hours of frustration do not use this tool to work with PST files from the windoze OS only with OUtlook Mac and don't bother downloading that from the unmactopia web site because it only works on pre INtel Macs.
To answer the person who says Mac users whine below... no we are simply used to simplicity and to truth... when a program has a suffix you would think a pst is a pst file.. no like most of Microsofts products down through the years you think you are dealing with one thing when reality is quite another. I thought i was buying a tested and useful and secure OS... NO you didn't you bought a product with thousands of flaws... so bad that people hate it and it needs fixes constantly vs an OS on Apple that gets features each week and a few security updates. Who wants stuff that you find on the dark side? you can have it.
you need to take your OUtook from the pc side and transfer it into Thunderbird then bring it to the Mac and rename each file with a .mbox then import them into apple mail or only recently will Entourage allow you to import Mbox files... go figure microsoft to MacroHard.
cheers.... if you use a mac.

-Imports MAC .pst from Outlook to Entourage. NOT PC .pst's ! What a pisser ! You can import PC .pst into Outlook 2001 Mac, then save it as a Mac .pst file, then You can import it into entourage. If you try to import a PC .pst into Entourage you get a freakin error message ! Otherwise, takes 30-45min per GB. Weirdness courtesy of MS, but if you are in a corporate environment, its just another thing we gotta deal with. C'mon now, Apple & MS, kiss and make up, these propietary thingies you do to us just piss us off ! (P.S. : I also beta tested this thing, and it worked...)

Microsoft PST Import CommentaryUhm, is a .pst file, a .pst, is a .pst file? - Version: 1.0.0, 3/14/2005 04:37PM PST

I'm hoping to export a .pst file from my outlook 2000 at work, into my entourage 2004 or whatever then sync entrourage with ical. Is this technology up to my needs? I am skeptical. This is looking like the Bluetooth syndrome, calling something one thing when it's really a bunch of incompatible other things, or bull*censored*ting us. Just some thoughts.

Microsoft PST Import Commentary*bangs head on desk in frustration* - Version: 1.0.0, 3/14/2005 03:13PM PST

the previous comment is correct... this is a one-step permanent conversion. This is not the .PST support that Entourage 2004 SHOULD be offering. I am forced to use a Dell at the office, but I take my PowerBook when I'm on the road. I have absolutely no ability to access my personal folders (PST) from both, and this isn't any help.

Microsoft- seriously... just SUPPORT .PST FILES.

*sigh*

Microsoft PST Import CommentaryOne way ticket? - Version: 1.0.0, 3/14/2005 02:29PM PST

The import tool does work, but then it's a one way ticket to committing yourself to the Mac platform in order access your archived items. (I work in a mixed platform environment. Outlook 2001 supported PST's created on a Mac or a PC.) Importing the PST into Entourage seems like a step backward in that it's not accessible when using a PC.

This potential short coming is not mention on Microsoft's web page or documentation.

Microsoft PST Import ReviewGreat utility - Version: 1.0.0, 3/14/2005 01:33PM PST

Works very well.
If you need your contacts, make a new PST in 2001 and put your contacts in the root level - don't use folders.
I've tested n PSTs up to 1GB, and it has worked flawlessly.
Good utility, and just in time to move to AD/Exchange 2003.

Microsoft going to leave us all hanging?
I will not succumb to the pressure of upgrading to Office 2004 when Office X completely satisfies my current needs.
