Has anyone actually used this software, even a demo version of it? I'm going to guess no one has and that the download count, while significant, is just the number of people who are sent to their form page, only to find out they need a username & password. So, I emailed them for a username & password and here's their reply, verbatim:
Thanks for your interest in our products.  Our demo is distributed to select organizations, actively engaged in computer forensics,  who upon successful completion of the demo, intend to purchase our products.
Unfortunately from the information provided,  we are unable to determine that you fulfill the criteria.  Please insure you have provided your organization / agency name, address, your title, role within the organization, and intended use of our products.
Thanks again for your interest,

Re: "That's all we need more tools for them to invade our lives"

Look, I agree we don't want govt prying into our private lives (it violates the Constitution if there's no indication of a crime being committed). But "they" ALREADY HAVE this software and more.
FYI - The FBI and other law enforcement often send confiscated Mac drives to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police because THEY have even better ability to "hack a Mac."

So, if YOU happen to have the $$$, it's kinda nice to be equally armed and serves a legitimate need if you're just recovering your data from a trashed Mac HD. It's cheaper than a lot of professional recovery services. And you MIGHT get into that business yourself if you want to recover the cost of the software.

That seems like a silly response. The drive is already going to be booched by the time you run this.
