PDF Studio CommentaryOverpriced, most functions done better by freeware (like Skim) - Version: 4.90, 7/10/2008 12:55PM PST

How do the developers justify a $60 price tag when there are freeware apps (like the exceptional Skim) that do many of these functions at no cost, or much cheaper shareware apps that do the same things?

I have recently bought this tool and I find it quite useful and very easy to use. I work in Academia and spend a lot of time reviewing articles and commenting them. PDF Studio is great for that, I can highlight text, add sticky notes, draw circles.

PDF Studio ReviewInteresting effort, but... - Version: 4.41, 4/30/2007 08:01PM PST

This is a worthy first approximation, but at $60 it's a little too pricey. PDF Clerk and PDF Pen Pro do much the same thing as this for about half the price.

The GUI for this is a little too Windows 2000 Professional for me, even to the file navigation panel with its Windows directory feel as opposed to the Mac's standard Finder views.

If you have Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional, you don't need this--and certainly to create PDFs you don't need it since Max OSX will do that for you as a matter of course.
