Airfoil ReviewHuge delay problem! - Version: 3.4.1, 11/17/2009 08:49AM PST

This is a very nice software and I'm grateful that someone is giving us a chance to use our Airport Express as it was meant to be used. But please fix this huge sound delay when played through several Airport Express and not forgetting when played through Quicktime. It is unbearable to watch a movie in Quicktime and have Airfoil stream the sound!

So if you plan to use this software, you should know that you will have a hard time not to be irritated when using Airfoil because of this bug! And it doesn't matter if you are using the latest Airport Express with 802.11n - that's not gonna help you!

This is just great. So far, all applications I try play through Airport Express, rather than being limited to just what will play through ITunes. No interference, no volume decrease, no quality decay.

When I learned I couldn't stream Pandora through iTunes to Airport Express, I was bummed. Luckily, a quick search found Airfoil with tons of positive reviews by Mac users.
5 minutes after downloading Airfoil, I was streaming Pandora to my stereo.

Airfoil is amazingly simple to use ... just click the speaker icon and listen.

This is one of those cases where I feel I got exactly what I paid for and would recommend it to anyone who wants to bypass ITunes and stream web based radio directly to Airport Express.

I get to many dropouts streaming the music to my Airport Express with AirFoil. This doesn't happen when I stream music from iTunes to the same Express, so I guess it must have something to do with AirFoil. Until this is fixed I won't be using this software unfortunately!

I just downloaded the Airfoil app and so far this is a great product. I can now listen to pandora as well as my itunes radio stations. Thank you Rogue Amoeba!

I've been using Airfoil for a couple of years now and think it offers great value for the money.

My only complaint was that it didn't provide audio streaming for video players like Quicktime and VLC (except with the 2 second delay), so I was particularly pleased to learn about the video player. (Better late than never).

I do have some issues about the stability of the connection between my mac and the Airport express, but that has nothing to do with Airfoil (problems also occur with iTunes). Occasionally when the connection drops I have to force quit Airfoil.

All in all a great product.

Just started using Airfoil 3.2.1 and I love it. I can now stream Pandora radio across my entire Airport Airtunes network. It was really easy to set up and it sounds great.

Now I just hope Rogue Amoeba will create an app that will let me control Pandora over my home network with my iphone the way iphone Remote does with itunes.

I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I FIRST FOUND THIS SOFTWARE BECAUSE I WANTED TO USE IT WITH ALL OF MY DVDS THAT I HAD RIPPED TO MY HARD DRIVES...SO THEY WERE VIDEO TS FILES...AND I WAS VERY UPSET THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO USE IT TO WATCH THESE FILES BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY WORK WITH ACTUAL DVDS IN THE DVD DRIVE...BUT NOW SINCE THE UPDATE TO 3.2...ITS AMAZING...THE ABLITY TO USE MY VIDEO TS FILES IS THE BOMB...

YOU CAN ALSO TELL THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE WHEN IT COMES TO THE STREAMING...YES THERE IS A DELAY WHEN U USE AIRFOIL BUT THERE IS ONE WHEN YOU USE AIRPORT EXPRESS WITH ITUNES...BUT THE AIRFOIL VIDEO PLAYER IS AMAZING HOW IT MAKES IT SO YOU CAN PLAY ANY VIDEO FILE IN THE PLAYER AND IT KNOWS HOW MUCH OF A DELAY THERE IS...SO INSTEAD OF HAVING TO HAVE HEAD PHONES ATTACHED TO MY MACBOOK TO WATCH A MOVIE IN BED ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DRAG THE FILE FROM THE FINDER TO THE VIDEO WINDOW AND IT PLAYS IN SURROUND SOUND THRU MY SPEAKERS...AND WILL PLAY TO HOWEVER MANY AIRPORT EXPRESSES I WANT IT TO PLAY THRU..I LOVE IT

If you want to stream any audio that comes out of your Mac around your house (or office, or party) this the app you need. iTunes can send music, but is limited to that. Airfoil can highjack any application, like LastFM, a mediaplayer or even your browser. Yes there is a slight delay the first time you connect to your Airport Express or other device, that is because it needs to establish a connection before it can send data, just like iTunes.
Having problems? Rogue Amoeba's support is excelent. Their respons very fast.
