iSay Reviewneat concept, but with problems - Version: 1.3.1, 9/20/2005 11:18AM PST

This is a really neat idea, and offers good features and great convenience, but in the end the implementation is a little questionable. The creation and display of inline audio attachments is quite hit-and-miss. The statement that most email clients will display the audio controller inline and allow playback without opening another app is too optimistic. Using this to communicate between AppleMail and Entourage on my machine illustrates that whether this works or not depends on the client settings in compose and receive. What's really interesting is that sending them as inline attachments in html formatted mailings is also unexpectedly inconsistent. Sent that way through Max BulkMailer displays the inline controller in Entourage and PowerMail (set to display html), but not In AppleMail. Sent by iSay via AppleMail and Entourage provides wildly varying results depending on which client is sending and which is receiving. I think for $20 this needs to be addressed somehow for it to be functional good value. As-is, some of us are not able to benefit from the convenience this app offers, without changing cllient settings or even changing clients altogether.

It would be my suggestion that the emails should be composed and formatted in and sent directly from iSay, with integration with the preferred email client's address book only. This route offers a better possiblity for successfully attaching the audio files in such a way that they are displayed inline, as desired and "promised", in more clients. This would also allow people who use clients which don't allow sending inline attachments access to this nifty idea.

I would love to have this app working for me as the developers suggest it can, but it just doesn't right now. If they can figure out a way to get more universally consistent display I would not object to $20 as being too pricey, but it's not there, in my mind. I can recommend that interested people try this because it's a great and cool idea, but I wouldn't tell anyone to buy it without trying it and considering it's current drawbacks and inconsistencies for themselves.

Don't you just hate whinners. 20.00 is a great price for such a cool application. Heck, I loose more than that going shopping for my wife and forget to use the coupons, what ever those are. These guys have the best and most solid you will ever use. Their support is unmatched. I was VERY happy with CopyPaste and use it all the time. Now they come out with iSay, which is just amazing. Voice email, what a great idea.

iSay is a nice little application. The bluetooth option is great. Sending audio files to my mobile is very fast.
I would like more email clients listed from the drop-down menu "default client" ( GyazMail ) is not listed. Better still, the option to choose your own email client.
When sending a file "Via Mail" the file name becomes a long list of numbers in Mail client instead of the name i called my recording in the "Voice Notes".
