soulseeX Troubleshooting ReportSoulseex won't open - Version: 1.0b6, 11/23/2008 07:36PM PST

I used Soulseek on my PC for a long time... it is the best. I got a new Mac, but Soulseex will not even open on it. I have downloaded the program from several different sites, including this one, but it always acts the same. It downloads, I click on the snowman and it appears in the toolbar and asks if I will allow incoming connections, to which I reply yes (allow) and then nothing happens. My firewall is set to allow connections for soulseex and my computer and OS are brand new, so does anyone know what is preventing this program from opening for me? Limewire does not even come close and I can't stand it! I want my Soulseek(X) back! Thanks so much if you can help!

I've been trying to connect but with no results, Im sure I've done proper portforwarding on my router but still no connection, on my PC everything is ok I did portforwarding and it works, on mac it doesnt. Could it be because I don't have a static IP in mac case?

soulseeX ReviewGreat! - Version: 1.0b6, 3/12/2008 04:39AM PST

While getting a bit long in the tooth, soulseeX still is a great client, the best Mac Soulseek client there is. Unfirtunately it doesn't seem to behave well for some random users. There's one thing though, that you have to try first, if ssX keeps on filling your HD: Turn off logging in ssX. An application restart once on a while won't hurt either.

The developer is busy keeping the slsk server running and also contributing to the further development of the official (Windows) slsk client. Expect ssX to be updated after that is out of the way. When will that be? Dunno, maybe in 6 months, maybe in a year, but meanwhile I'm still (after >3 years of usage) happy with the current release.
