Product Description:

MainMenu is an easy-to-use menubar item that allows you to run a large set of Mac OS X maintenance, cleaning and optimization tasks. MainMenu can repair permissions, update prebindings, clean system and users caches, empty many browsers caches/history, force empty the trash, clean logs, repair disks, and much more. Most tasks provide feedback in the log window during execution. The batch task function allows you to run many routines at once. Bug reports, feature requests, feedback (positive as well as negative) and anything else are welcome. MainMenu is currently free

What's new in this version:

  • Confirmed compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4.3 + 4 (apologies for the delay. My access to the computer with the MainMenu project on it was really limited)
  • Inverted "Run Maintenance Scripts" and "Disk Utility" menus, "Quit Finder" and "Relaunch Finder" menu items and "Repair disk" and "Eject disk" menu items. Thank you Marco Thill for the requests
  • Toggle finder invisibles menu item is now the same font size as the rest of the menu items. Thanks again Marco, as well as Phil Skelton
  • Updated Japanese localization, thanks Toshitaka Osawa
  • Erase free space tasks now require a shutdown or reboot/restart
  • Bug fix: Batch Tasks would stop at browser history cleaning if it was part of the list. Thanks Patrick White (first out of many people) for the report
  • Bug fix: when MainMenu was quit, an empty space would have been left where it was until the user switched to another application. This has been fixed.
  • Erase disk space tasks have been disabled for now, until a more reliable way to execute the tasks is found (sorry)
  • Minor interface changes (rushed, due to 10.4.3)
  • Fixed the Rebuild LS Database command to work more reliably. Thanks to Rowland McDonnell.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

Since purchasing this newer version (not the old free one), every time I run any batch tasks , cache cleaning or removal of temp files etc; I lose all bookmark icons and toolbar icons.Does not matter which version of main menu or which browser I use.I still have to navigate to every site and open it to get my bookmarks back.Did not have this problem with the last of the free version.Nothing positive from the supplier of program, been a few months now of this problem.

MainMenu 2.0.3 remains the best System Utility app.
Using it on a new MBP 15 2.66 with Snow 10.6.2 there are more options which gives you a better way to keep your Mac running quick & clean.
MM runs the Crons jobs on demand, cleans caches, repair permissions plus many other helpful ideas.
Every week after running MainMenu my Mac feels snappier.

MainMenu CommentaryWake Up Call to new Owners - Version: 2.0.3, 10/23/2009 01:05PM PST

Trying to be objective here. MainMenu was free for so long, when the then author could have been justified in charging a fee. Obviously the new owners purchased it to make a killing. However, by charging $20 they are in danger of killing it altogether. I would be willing to pay $10 based on shareware fee of othe utilities (some of which are STILL free). However, its unique in that its the only menu based application. The utility has changed very little after changing hands and therefore I would respectfully suggest that a touch of greed has entered in here. My oft quoted response is "Halve the price, triple the profit". At $20 I would suggest that all those (or nearly all) who enjoyed the free app are continuing to do so. A respectful wake up call to the new owners - revive the patient before it dies on you. There is a fine line between honest profit and outright greed - step back a little. Even try a special for a month at say$5 and guage the response from thee?
