Form Pilot Home ReviewA needed product for Macs - Version: 1.13, 8/3/2006 05:23PM PST

In contrast to other reviewers, I find a significant need for this type product. Currently I am using Acrobat Professional to fill in forms. However, Acrobat requires the user to create the fill-in fields, whereas Form Pilot allows the user to begining typing anywhere on the imported form, saving a step. There appears to be a significant issue that I was unable to resolve: the imported form degrades in resolution, making it impractical to print a copy of form, forcing the user to print data to the original form - alignment then may be an issue for some. I personally perfer to print a duplicate form and avoid the alignment problem. Scanning directly into the application would be a bonus, but including scanning function within the application is asking that the app be compatible with numerous scanners - maybe Form Pilot should team up with VueScan. I do have a SnapScan, which allows selection of the app to open the scanned document; however, there appears to be a compatibilty issue with Form Pilot. Hopefully the software author will be able to address some of these issues.

I'm the world's lousiest writer, so I tried the demo.

What killed it for me, at least the demo does not allow you to resize the window or make the view larger (125%, etc) Some of us have trouble viewing partial windows with teeny text.

So, basically, we're offered to buy YET ANOTHER text editor for $30, where ANY other one, including Text Editor can do this work as well? I'll save my money and throw it at something I may need more than this, like a case of beer and a hammer (to get propperly hammered).
