Product Description:

Trampoline is the shortest route to the things you use most. You have a set of core tools, the things you use many many many times a day. With Trampoline, those things are never more than a few pixels away.

Press a hot key, and a circular launcher appears all around your cursor. Every tool you put in the Trampoline is within easy reach. Just move your mouse in the dircetion of the thing you want, and then click.

Very shortly, you become used to the placement of your favorite things. Your hand begins to associate moving in a certain direction with opening a certain thing. This is when Trampoline really becomes useful. Before long, it's not something you even think about. Trampoline gets out of your way so you can get your work done.

That's the philosopphy of Trampoline: stay out of your way until you need it, then be quick about getting you to the tools you need. No complex learning curve, no training, no time wasted on manuals, although there is a manual if you'd like to read it. In fact, there are even Video Tutorials that show Trampoline in action.

Give Trampoline a week and see if it doesn't make getting to the things you use most quicker and easier.

Note: Trampoline was once known as Bullseye, but has since gained a new look, many many new features, and a new attitude.

What's new in this version:

  • added the ability to drag-hold an icon over a folder to open a new trampoline of that folder, allowing you to drag onto icons inside folders in the trampoline
  • Added a setting to show a files label color.
  • The "Show In Finder" and "Get Info" menu items (and their as- sociated key commands) will now use Path Finder if Path Finder is running and "Enable Reveal in Path Finder for third party applica- tions" is turned on in Path Finder's preferences.
  • added the ability to relaunch a running application either by pressing the 'l' key or by choosing the item from a contextual menu. (timeout is 2 minutes)
  • added a "Force Quit" menu item to the contextual menu of run- ning applications.
  • The "Add Special" popup button in the Items Preference now includes a submenu for the Applications folder, making it very easy to add most applications from within the Items Preferences.
  • Added a "Delete Icon" menu item in the contextual menu of URLs, so you can change the icon of an URL in Trampoline.
  • updated background appearance by adding a glasslike reflection, and changed the color cast of the bezel buttons to suit.
  • The registration reminder icon no longer grows over time.
  • added a paging prevention scheme to help Trampoline appear more quickly after it's not been used for a while.
  • fixed a bug where dragging onto an alias of a folder would not behave as expected (folder icon would not appear selected)
  • fixed a bug with exposeÃŒÂ? via e key press.
  • fixed an obscure memory bug
  • Updated the help menu items to include old-jewel.com rather than the old oldjewelsoftware.com addresses.
  • some behind the scenes cleanup.

Trampoline ReviewTrampoline Fantastic - Version: 2.3.3, 10/30/2008 01:14PM PST

I've felt ambivalent about the native Dock since it showed up - a love/hate relationship at best - but Trampoline is a fantastic alternative. Easy to use, easy to show/hide, easy to add/remove items from its circle - highly configurable and, unlike Dock, doesn't show up when I don't want it. The developer has thought carefully about its behavior and taken user choice into account at almost every turn. I recommend it as a great Dock alternative.

I want to make my comments more overt here. This program has significantly reduced my pending carpal tunnel problems. Instead of having to make numerous trips to the dock (or other program switchers), I programmed my center mouse button to pop up the Trampoline menu when I click it. It's a lot easier for me to traverse a small piece of screen realty to find what I want. This might sound trivial, but as I've gotten older, it has made a significant difference. (I've been using Macs for nearly 20 years.) In addition, the program is highly configurable and fast. If you tinker with it for less than a minute - and read the instructions that come with it - you will see that it is not at all difficult to configure and use. The developer has also always been prompt with replies and consideration of feature requests. This is a program one should check out before dismissing it as "yet another program switcher and launcher." I'll take it over the dock any day.

strange and unintuitive... not for everyone... bit of a software "gizmo" - if you like that sort of thing...
what's wrong with the dock anyway? I drag my app folders in to the right side of the dock - right/contrl click on the folder and voila, a menu of all your apps to choose from...
