Jaikoz Audio Tagger ReviewOne big vote from me - Version: 2.8.4, 2/17/2009 01:55AM PST

I found this to be a most remarkable time saving application. Five minutes after install I knew it was what I needed to tidy my library so I registered it, and 30 minutes after that I had identified every "unknown" or "unidentified" song. Over the past few days I've been able to refine many things such as album dates and missing artwork. I've been keeping a close eye on it (I don't trust _any_ software for months!) and so far it totally shines in terms of accuracy and reliability. For me, it's either automation or chaos, no way have I got time to ID everything, or fill in the kind of info that this app manages in a few seconds.

People have mentioned the slight java-clunkiness of it. It is noticeable but most importantly that does not affect the apps ability to get the job done, which is more important to me than any plastic devotion to the purity of cocoa. If some cocoalicious thing comes out that can match this, that'd be great, but I haven't seen one that can match it.

Last point - this application, along with SuperSync, have enabled me to achieve what I thought would be impossible, in restoring, sorting, de-duping and syncing my audio archive. What I really want next is to be able to do the same to my damn photo archive!

Jaikoz Audio Tagger Usage TipLooks like a great program. Loved to buy it if I could only download it. - Version: 2.3.1, 4/5/2008 08:11AM PST

Program looks great and looks like it's the answer to all my issues I've dealt with for over 11 years with my library. Would love to get it and pay for it BUT I can't seem to download the darn thing. What's up? Do you have the software only available on one server and no mirror sites? It seems your server is down. Please let me know how I can get a copy of this software. I'll gladly pay for it too! Best Regards, Paul John at SongVault.fm

Jaikoz Audio Tagger ReviewI like this program - Version: 1.11.2, 9/16/2007 03:54AM PST

I like this program. I like iTunes too. But what I don't like is how itunes currently stores files and in particular that it doesn't attach album art to the actual song file but puts it away in an album art folder. This means that if you like to move your music files around onto mass storage devices or any media player/mp3 player other than an ipod it doesn't take the album art.
Jaikoz has allowed me to to tag all my files in the format that I want, using a logical interface similar to that of iTunes in that, once loaded all files can be viewed by album/artist/genre and corrected accordingly.
Corrections can be applied in various ways. A local corrector can be applied to improve grammatical errors and improve file identification/auto correction. A file identification process can then be carried out and finally an auto correction process using the MuzicBrainz database. This is fairly accurate but if you don't like the results you can either use the manual corrector and select from a number of identified files or apply your own correction in the spreadsheet like table.
You then have the option to save files to folders and subfolders, in the format that you want using hotkeys and to top it all your files now work in iTunes AND any other mediaplayer/mp3 player with all your tag information.

I have experienced occasional bugs (error windows for no reason) but otherwise works very well.

This program does exactly what I need a file tagger to do and has the versatility to allow users to edit tags in any way they choose.
If you like cross platform freedom but prefer to use Mac this is my choice and well worth the $20.

Jaikoz Audio Tagger ReviewGood solution to correcting lots of meta data - Version: 1.10, 7/13/2007 08:46PM PST

If you have songs with missing or incorrect meta data on your Macintosh, Jaikoz is well worth your time and money. There is no other program available on the Mac that provides all the capabilities of Jaikoz.

If some of your meta data is correct, you can easily transfer the correct portions to other songs that have problems. The color coding scheme showing what data has changed is very useful, and allows you to easily verify the updates before you save them to your hard disk.

Jaikoz integrates with MusicBrainz, giving you a chance to capture a lot of meta data starting with just the music, by matching up the song and grabbing the meta data from MusicBrainz.

Jaikoz can grab album artwork and song lyrics from the Internet, for all of your music, with one command, and store the data inside your MP3 file.

Jaikoz has extensive documentation explaining each of the features available, and suggesting sequences of operations to perform for best results.

The author is extremely helpful with support, and releases new versions with new features on a monthly or better basis.

The downside to this program is that it's written in Java, and does not have the good looking, fun to use interface that Mac Cocoa programs have. Although an MP3 tagger program is not something I use on a daily basis, so I'm willing to live with this.

I downloaded this for its integration with musicbrainz. (I have some mystery songs that I want tagged properly.) I found this program vastly inferior to ieatbrainz in that respect.

The interface and appearance are typical of a java app; not very pretty or mac-like, but not horrible. I think this is the downfall of most java apps: In an effort to work in all platforms, they don't really excel on any of them.

Jaikoz has a large assortment of settings you can--and probably should--modify. I personally like this aspect, but some may find it intimidating. The settings are certainly non-intuitive and not mac-like.

Since there is no all-in-one tagger, musicbrainz lookup, art graber that I can tolerate, this might have some some use in the future. As of now, however, I don't see any reason to use this over similar products that have superior interfaces.

Jaikoz Audio Tagger ReviewTerrible... - Version: 1.2.1, 10/24/2006 07:23PM PST

This thing is so clunky, I couldn't stand it. Not to mention that it couldn't fix my missing tags.

Worst of all, though, is the STUPID way it asks 100 questions when you want to quit. Even though all I wanted to do is quit out, Jaikoz ended up deleting all my MP3 files and then asking me (again) "are you sure you want to quit?"

Yes, and I'm sure I'm never using this windoze-like piece of junk again.

Jaikoz Audio Tagger ReviewThis is saving me loads of time - Version: 1.0.1, 2/1/2005 07:29AM PST

Just been trying this for the last week.
This is really cool, Ive just discovered the feature to change the tag version (i.e from v2.3 to v2.4) and it sorted out the problems I was having with my mp3 player.

And the autocorrect works pretty well as well my mp3s look alot prettier

I definently recommend this, especially when you look at the alternatives on the Mac.

Jaikoz Audio Tagger CommentaryUn-mac-like java donkey - Version: 1.0.1, 1/27/2005 05:05AM PST

'Travelling light' is a gorgeous, well written song and if this cross platform
java app were written just for the mac in 'cocoa' then it might have been
gorgeous too.

Java is not "A Marriage Made In Heaven" when run on OSX and
with ID3X($21) and Media Rage($25) available Jaikoz's($18) java based
app rolls in a very poor third and makes me wonder 'IF' Isabella
Rossellini uses a mac which one she would choose?
