I needed something to convert a mini DVD from a Canon recorder. This was the only thing I could find to do a VRO file (I had never heard of that file type).

I bought... I Downloaded... I could not get to work out of the box.

It was my fault since I did not have Quicktime set up properly.

The Developer was responsive and answered my questions. Now I have it working like a fine oiled machine. That's all I ask from shareware. You can't expect perfection... just someone to respond to make it work as best as possible.

Does what it promises and well worth the $25.

I recommend...

MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced ReviewPAL->NTSC conversion worked great! - Version: 4.2, 12/30/2007 07:26PM PST

I've been searching for a PAL->NTSC dvd converter off and on for a while now. downloaded MPEG2 Works 4 today, and a few hours later, I have a perfectly acceptable copy of a DVD that my parents have been wanting to watch on their consumer DVD player for a year now. Documentation is inline on the app, super-easy to use, and as close to 1 button as you could hope. Excellent product.

MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced Reviewa must have.. - Version: 4.2, 11/27/2007 09:48AM PST

This little app is hands down amazing. I'm a paid user since version 3 and I can not believe it, but it gets better and better all the time. Video extractions sometimes can be a bit confusing, but the developer always helps within hours. I simply love it! And now with intel chip it is so fast. Before it took darn long to get the conversions, but on a core 2 duo wait time is reduced to minimum.
Anyways MPEG2 Works is the best app out there for the purpose.

I bought it, converted a little mov to mpeg as per instructions (maxed out my C2D for 15 minutes), and did not get the 3 files as per instructions despite being told everything went fine (I only get the m2v file).

So I used VisualHub to make a mpeg-2 file and then tried to add subtitles as per instructions and get "the application spumux quit unexpectedly"

Waste of money

MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced ReviewGreat Tool – Worth Every Penny - Version: 4.2, 11/7/2007 06:55AM PST

We have several apple iDVD movies we've burned over the years and no longer had the project files. They just eat too much space. We wanted to convert the VIDEO_TS folder on our dvds to a file that we could input into iMovie again so we could access and edit our old movie clips.

I’ve tried using OpenShiiva, but the file created didn't preserve the audio. MPEG2 Works 4 was able to solve my problem by converting my VIDEO_TS movies into Quicktime movie format (with sound), which I can easily import into iMovie.

This program can do MUCH more than I've described, but worth the price for just this one application.

M2W gets better and easier to use with each update. I uyse it exclusively for burning and converting, and even use the included mplayer for playback. I have never had this app fail to do anyhting i needed it to do; any problems were based on not understanding processes, and the developers site, as well as the developer himself, were more than enough to quickly solve my
questions. I would give this 10 stars if it were possible. Thanks for a GREAT application, now working flawlessly under 10.5 !

MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced ReviewOne click conversion PAL/NTSC- far from it. - Version: 4.1.3, 7/31/2007 09:54AM PST

Forums are full of newbies' woes at trying to find software for PAL/NTSC conversion. I had great hopes for this, advertised as "one-click conversion". Working on the vobs in a Video_TS file, it first took 30secs of the first vob and then stopped, congratulating itself with a Finished and exclamation mark. Whether it had actually been converted to NTSC I don't know. I then used its combine vobs feature, and when trying to convert this unified file, it spat out a zero AC3 audio file, the Terminal whirled, it finished after a few minutes, but no file created or able to be saved. I contacted them and was told to use Yadex to combine the vobs and try again!! Its own combine vob function doesn't work as preparation for conversion?!?! And if this vob combining is necessary prior to PAL/NTSC conversion, why isn't this automated as part of the "one click" total conversion. Just how much pre-preparation is required before the "one click' conversion I was promised?
I gave up.
