FinderCleaner Usage TipBEWARE - SPYWARE - Version: 1.9, 8/25/2007 10:04AM PST

What danger does this software represent? - you provide it with your administrator password, and then Little Snitch catches it sending a ping request to members.home.nl using ICMP.

Beware people - "ping" is among the oldest and most common methods used by hackers to locate systems prior to further exploitation.

If you do need to use Finder Cleaner then make sure you are not connected to the internet at the time.

Don't trust an explanations from the creator of this spyware. There is no need for a tiny one-trick utility like this to call home.

FinderCleaner Troubleshooting ReportVariable autoeject not defined...? - Version: 1.9, 1/17/2006 02:15AM PST

Hey gang,

downloaded + installed FinderCleaner, and tried to run it on my MMC-card for my camera. Asks for admin-pwd, then whirrs a little - then comes back with a "Variable autoeject not defined" message, where you can click OK - and nothing happens? Is this the eject-problem mentioned in earlier versions?

I'm running OS X 10.4.4 on a 1.5 GhZ PB with 1.5 GB RAM...

FinderCleaner Developer NoteSlowness - Version: 1.8, 11/24/2005 12:32PM PST

trekvogel (Boswortels.tk)
As I replied to an earlier post the slowness is probably due to the fact that your password has to be retrieved from the keychain. This is by far the most resource heavy thing the program has to do. It probably varies per system how fast this is. On my iBook G4 1.2GHz it took 4.5 seconds after the dock icon stopped bouncing until I could choose a folder. Full launch time was 8.6 seconds before I could do anything. That's not exectly very slow by my standards but it might be slower on other systems.

I appreciate the mention of this issue and I'll try to do something about it. I'll at least include an option not to use the keychain as it could be faster in some cases.
