Product Description:

LowDown™ is an AppleScript application which takes a folder of images as an argument and returns the individual image's properties into a newly created TextEdit file, in plain text or tab-delimited format. The properties returned are: File Name, File Type, Color Space, Resolution, Pixel Dimensions & File Size (on disk) in KBytes. The properties of each image will be written to the TextEdit file.

Why use LowDown™? It allows you to check third party supplied images for required resolution, color space et. al. for web or print publishing without having to open the image in an image editor. It also gives you a catalog of the images you have stuffed away on CD, or the nooks and crannies of your hard drive.

LowDown ReviewJust what I needed... - Version: 1.2, 6/10/2006 12:27PM PST

I had been doing this with Final Cut Pro (talk about an overpriced solution to a simple problem) and then importing into Excel.

My only three wishes would be export as plain txt-tab not rtf, better error handling (which is probably just a function of applescript) and more info, if possible -- like EFIX data (camera make, model, etc.)

But this thing is what you call extremely slick and useful.
