Xbox Live Friends ReviewExcellent interface - Version: 4.0, 3/1/2009 10:44AM PST

The best of the Friends apps, although it seems to quit expectedly every ten minutes. Also, auto-login only works about half the time. Sending messages without turning on my Xbox is awesome. Please fix the stability and I would gladly pay!

It looks like they are no longer maintaining this application. If you are looking for an alternative, we have an XBOX Live Friends widget for the MacOS dashboard as well as the iPhone/iPod Touch.

You can visit for http://1337pwn.com for downloads and more information.

Xbox Live Friends CommentaryVery nice; only a couple of shortcomings - Version: 3.0.4, 12/3/2007 08:35AM PST

I wanted an AIM/iChat way to keep track of my friends on XBL. I found that with Xbox Friends, and for the most part it looks great and works well. Just some items I'd like addressed for the next version:

1. Cannot autologin. Must use Friends>Login (cmd-L), then click complete.
2. Doesn't autorefresh. Must continually check on "complete login" screen every few minutes.
3. Apparently doesn't handshake well with WindowsLive login, as it times out every hour.
4. Cannot view or send messages - crashes application each and every time.

MDD G4 (dual 1.42GHz, 2G RAM, broadband connection)

Again, looks great and is onto a very good start, but I quit app in frustration at least once daily due to the above.

Thanks

Thanks for the update.

Xstats - although now the friends are listed in the dropdown menu, I still have the letters F,A,I,L,E,D listed. Also, sometimed loading the stats for a friend works, other times I get an error saying - "Loading stats failed, please make sure you are connected to the internet."

Xbox Live Friends Troubleshooting ReportHere's how to get it working ... - Version: 2.2, 12/23/2005 03:05AM PST

Here's what you need to do to make this work (Yes, this does work under OS X 10.4.3):

1) In the Xbox Live Friends app, follow the directions under Help>Xbox Live Friends Help. Click "Linking Your Gamertag" for instructions on setting up your Passport account, and to create the proper link between Passport and Xbox Live.
2) Ensure that Safari's Preferences>Security>Accept Cookes>Only From Sites You Navigate To is CHECKED.
3) The Friends>Manual Sign-In menu item does NOT link correctly to the Xbox Live website. This is the link you want to follow:
http://www.xbox.com
4) At the top of the page, there is a wee little "Sign In" icon. Click that. Sign in with your Passport account from Step 1.

That should do it. I wish the developer had slightly better documentation on this, and his FAQ is a joke. But oh well. What can you say for a free app.

Xbox Live Friends Troubleshooting ReportSeems to be broken since the LIVE update on Oct. 24th - Version: 2.1.1, 10/28/2005 11:45PM PST

Great program/widget, but is it only me when I say it's been rendered useless by the recent October '05 LIVE upgrade preparing for the 360?

All I get now is a little vertical column on the names list saying "Failed"

Hoping for an update soon, I miss the widget!

Xbox Live Friends Commentarycan it? - Version: 2.0.2, 6/21/2005 07:01AM PST

I'm downloading now to try, but if it can't do this, I would like to see a program that can, or the next update.

I hate the online keyboard on the xbox, so it would be great if you could voice and text message with the Mac.

Also, listen to and read your messages.

Well, I'll try this out and see what it can and can't do.
