OpenGL Extensions Viewer Troubleshooting ReportProblem with OpenGL 2.1 test - Version: 3.02, 4/7/2008 03:38AM PST

Adreitz
I just wanted to note that my Mac Pro 8x2.8 with GeForce 8800 GT passes all the tests, but the OpenGL 2.1 test doesn't display correctly. Instead of the sides of the cube being textured with moving fractals, the textures just appear as grayscale lines that move around. I'm running 10.5.2 with all the latest updates.

OpenGL Extensions Viewer Troubleshooting ReportNeed to confirm a hardware problem - iMac G5 1.8mhz - Version: 2.32, 11/11/2007 01:00PM PST

Not really related to this product directly, although it appears to be confirming a suspicion I've had a for a few years.

I have two iMacs. One is the newer iSight version, the other is an older one. It has the GeForce FX 5200 (NVIDIA NV34MAP OpenGL Engine). In Second Life this one often gets into texture problems, with textures screwed up, or in the wrong place. It's been that way since day one, and I've suspected a hardware problem, but I can't really march into the Apple Store and say "Second Life" doesn't work. Currently running 10.4.10, but about to upgrade to 10.5 (but a bit nervous, because of the heavier OpenGL usage).

So I finally got around to running OpenGL Extensions Viewer. I ran it through the tests, and everything was going swimmingly until... Test 1.1 (texturing) with the Framebuffer set to "Framebuffer object (float)". That test, and that test combination alone, crashes the program.

Now I assume that OpenGL Extensions Viewer shouldn't be crashing, or asking the graphics board to do something it shouldn't, but I'd like to confirm that. Can anyone provide me with either of the following two things?

1. An Apple Test that I can give to the Apple Store to prove there's a problem
or
2. Run this test an an identical piece of hardware and confirm that it works.

Many thanks!

(Of course, alternatively, a fix to the underlying problem would be just fine too.)

OpenGL Extensions Viewer Usage TipRun its "benchmark" before upgrading to Leopard and after - Version: 2.32, 10/28/2007 03:32AM PST

Ilgaz
Here is a good use of this excellent freeware.

Its "tests" also have "Benchmark" functionality. You can run its benchmark which is pure OpenGL before and after installing Leopard to compare OpenGL speed enhancements on Leopard.
