PoddumFeeder Review!! Spyware anyone ¿ - Version: 1.11, 7/1/2005 03:02AM PST

Yes, I do know all those Podcast-Catcher available out there (have tested them real hard) and each piece of Software has it pros and cons.

If all those programmers would work together on a open source Code, they would probably create a good application. But now it is to late. Apple delivered iTunes 4.9 with Podcasting in it.
And they are working on how to implement BitTorrent (or other P2P technique), to handle the huge amount of Bandwidth (ask Curry ;-)

SPY-WARE ???
I dont know the source-code of PoddumFeeder,
but when you open the Preferences...
on the lower left corner is a strange icon - and when you click on it then you get on a website:
Mucho Sucko :: Tasteless Humor for The Unemployed!
http://www.muchosucko.com/

Well - I dont want my Podcasting software to be linked to any porn sites on the web.
Besides, I can confirm those Threads posted below (concerning hanging and no feedback)

Bad Note from me

Based on first experiences and the look of the program, I paid the shareware fee but I must say I'm regretting it now. The main problem this app suffers from is the fact that it downloads all of the mp3 files in the main thread, rendering the interface useless during that time. If you want to cancel or change an option, well you'll have to force quit the app first. I contacted support about this but got no reply.

Other lesser problems:

The only automatic interval is every hour. I'd like it to be every day.

Every time it hits the automatic interval, it throws down an annoying sheet that causes its icon to bounce in the dock. If I want something to be automatic, then I don't want it to require my attention or interaction.

Unfortunately I don't know of a better alternative. However a slim podcast manager would make a perfect Dashboard widget. Someone should do that!
