Binary maintenance donationware?! - Version: 2.4, 5/5/2009 10:00AM PST

It would be nice to see someone do a nice binary implementation of Bochs 2.4 ala 2.1.1, do a donationware system to encourage up-to-date binary availability...

This is just the source code. Has anyone gotten Bochs 2.3pre compiled and working on Mac OS?

Not very good right now, but could get better. Graffix, wine could run great on Mac OS X, depending on the app. Any app that requires an x86 processor would run bad, but if it's just calling Win32 APi's it would be great. I say keep working on both. Lets make Windows apps run slow on Windows open source folk. We can do it!
Something like VPC would be nice ;) - Version: 2.1.1, 2/15/2004 08:52PM PST

Something like VPC would be nice as long as it isn't Microsloth.
i wished someone would make a native Open-Source Mac OS X Wintel emulator.
and Microsloth is also not going to ad hardware acceleration for 3D so were stuck with that slow app again :(

Boch 2.1 slower - Version: 2.1, 1/21/2004 01:14PM PST

I have both the precompiled version of boch 2..02 (dmg file) and compiled the source code of Boch 2.1 and I don't know what the programmer did to speed up the Mac version of Boch 2.0.2 but it needs to be done to 2.1. 2.0.2 tries to install windows95 in a fraction of the time 2.1 takes. Even the responce of FreeDOS is faster in 2.0.2. 2.1 is insanely slow compared to 2.0.2 dmg, I mean slower than a snail out for a walk slow. Given the way Virtural PC can work there must be come code to cut out of the program and speed the thing up and skill keep it cross-platform.
Adding Wine...

on top of Bochs will only turn the speed from slow to 'glacial', due to the extra layer of emulation needed... although I hardly see the need for Wine since it's an emulation layer for x86 Linux to run Windows apps...
Virtual PC is a few magnitudes better than this application... save yourself the time and effort and buy that instead... you'll only be disappointed if you buy this one expecting anything resembling 'adequate' performance.
