Missing sound effects is not a Mac-only problem! - Version: 1.6.1d, 7/23/2005 09:10AM PST

The missing sound effects is also a problem in the Windows version. I play that version at school and several times during a game its obvious that sounds are missing. Its as if the game only plays a few sounds on top of each other while other sounds just vanish. Just to let you know its not a Mac-only problem :)
Great Game, but a crappy porting job by Aspyr

I gotta say, I love BF. The game is really diverse, fun, and addictive. However, the Mac port, by Aspyr, is dismal. It is probably the most buggy program I've ever bought and, considering how much it cost, that's very disappointing.
Me and several friends bought BF as soon as it was available for the Mac (the very first local shipment, actually). That turned out to be a huge mistake as it was all but unplayable for the better part of a year until the latest update. Obviously, we were the beta program because it would crash everytime I played it within an hour.
Anyway, alot of those bugs seem to be *finally* worked out with the latest patch but it always crashes a couple times during a couple hours of playing time. It seems I always stop playing when I get fed up with re-loading the game... not when I'm tired of playing.
I've send a few support requests to Aspyr and found there support to be the absolute bare minimum required. The last time they took 4 days to respond and, when they finally did, only told me to remove the BF install and re-install again. Genious.
Anyway, would I buy it again? Damn it, I probably would (while clenching my teeth tightly). Will I ever buy another Aspyr product? No.

I'm going to avoid the Aspyr ... get a gaming system instead.
