Game Agent CommentaryHow About... - Version: 1.5, 8/26/2005 10:45PM PST

would be nice if Aspyr added the newer Range of Macs into the list... there are now new mini's, ibooks, etc. (update the list sometimes - PLEASE)... I use this to see if a potential new mac purchase will run your products (even if "should work")...

Game Agent Reviewseems to work but window doesn't scroll - Version: 1.5, 8/19/2005 03:01PM PST

Gathers the data and shows the ratings, but the window won't scroll lower. A bit annoyng considering 20% of the screen is wasted on a ad display at the top. I'm running 1024x768, so I guess the developer had a much nicer screen than I do.

It says my g4 laptop (1.5ghz, 2gb ram, 5400rpm drive, 128mb video) should be able to run Call of Duty: United Offensive and many other games well.

CoDUO runs so poorly on it that even at 640x480 with extras set to the middle (not entirely stripped down) I only average 20fps. I had to drop it that much because when the action got heavy the slide show was so bad I couldn't move or aim effectively.

My hunch is that this is not Aspyr's fault, but nonetheless, this until very recently top of the line laptop cannot run CoDUO very well at all. Whereas I get 40fps at 1024x768 with most fluffy options on on my PC. It drops during heavy action some, but not to a slideshow state. Very playable.

I believe the problem lies in the low level areas of OS X and the appropriate device drivers.

OS X can't even play full screen avi's at a smooth rate. Heck, much of the time it can't even do that with QuickTime. So while OS X may be several years ahead in features, it's 8 years behind in performance.

You know what would make this app killer? If they had a piece of every game to benchmark on the fly for whatever computer your using. For example, let's say that Ghost Recon uses 10,000 polygons for it's most graphic intensive level/map. It would be cool if you could download this app and choose "Ghost Recon" as the game and hit test and it would try to draw those 10,000 polygons in the background and tell you if your machine will run them good. Instead of just grabbing the minumum requirements from aspyr and comparing them with your computer. That way you could test graphic intensive aspyr games before you had to buy them and find out it doesn't work well on your computer.... :)

(i made up 10,000. I have no idea how many polygons ghost recon really uses...)

Game Agent CommentaryAspyr - challenge everything - Version: 1.0.2, 12/24/2004 04:06AM PST

"Aspyr - challenge everything", they got that in one... My Patience... they cannot reproduce flaws that I email them about in any of there software (how many macs have they got in there office?)... They also struggle to produce the latest software which works well on the lower end macs... I presume this software may collect data for them, what other perpose does it have? as a previous poster stated can't we read... or are they making up the system requirements... I suppose there hopeing people will buy it if this software says Should or May work!!! then find is dosnt, after its too late!!!

Don't waste your time, because its not accurate. As stated in previous posts.
I have an older PowerBook 550 with a measly 16mb radeon and some of the games listed work fine on my 'old' computer, game agent states otherwise.

Game Agent ReviewYou've Gotta Be Kidding! - Version: 1.0.2, 12/23/2004 04:29PM PST

Aspyr thinks we can't read the System Requirements for a game on either their web site or the product box before we buy it. So they come up with this.

What's the point of this?

Maybe we also need Aspyr to keep us from buying Windows games thinking they will run on our Macs! : )

beeble is right on the money.

It leaves out the part about Tomb Raider AOD missing textures on levels near the end of the game. AOD was real playable with the missing textures!

It tells me my 1GHz 17" iMac can't play at all 4 games that I own and play regularly. I can't have all the graphics features turned on but even with these turned off, they still look great and are very playable. It also tells me some games that my computer struggles with will play well. What is the point of this program if it's data is so out of step with reality?

Now I have something else telling me my Powerbook G4 667 is old and inadequate! Works great! Can Aspyr buy me a new computer so I can play Law and Order?
