WoW Status ReviewBuggy without prompt fixes - Version: 1.3.6.1, 7/9/2006 01:33PM PST

Rick Deckard
I loved the idea of this software and paid for a copy. However, after using it for awhile, I found it to be inaccurate. It would show the same status continuously, no matter what the real population of the server was. Restarting the computer (no, not just the app) will reset it until it hangs again within a day.

The preferences window also shows up *behind* any other windows you currently have open, so it can appear as if trying to open the prefs didn't work.

These bugs have existed for months and the developer has not fixed them yet. Save your $6 and the headache until the author starts supporting the app.

WoW Status ReviewDont use this. - Version: 1.3.6.1, 6/20/2006 08:58AM PST

I launched the app.
It immediately gave me an option to buy.
When I chose not to the window went away, however using and app called proccess hunter I discovered that WoW was still running, even though it did not appear in the running application for the OS.

This looks buggy and fishy IMO...

I dont want to download a beta unless it says beta. Apps should work and work cleanly.

WoW Status ReviewStill bugged - Version: 1.3.5, 10/25/2005 10:12AM PST

Installed this menu item.. chose Preferences and it immediately hung up. Had to force quit. Restarted and it hung again. Finally after several tries it came up and asked if I wanted to register. Still can't get the preferences up without hanging. I like the idea of this app and hope it gets fixed.

Whilst I still feel the same I have to applaud this developer for caring about customers. I eMailed to express my concern and got a prompt polite reply. I've been assured that some my key issue is known of an being addressed. I look forward to posting a complete retraction.

WoW Status CommentaryI've tried it - don't buy it - Version: 1.3.3, 5/6/2005 05:51AM PST

I loved the idea. Downloaded it, paid for it, and attempted to use it. I have no issues with the accuracy. I've experienced Blizzards status servers and their "down for 15 minute claims". I won't continue to use it becuase it hangs itself and I find I have to go and kill it either from activity monitor or terminal.

I'll try it again when the UI has been improved. Jacking stuff into the menu bar has always been a no-no. I have other apps that attempt to do similar tasks but they give me the choice of Menu Bar, Dock, Both and in some cases a floating windoid. Also, suppressing the app's presence in the dock is a pain, makes killing it when it misbehaves a chore.

I purchased becuase I'm totally cheesed off with Blizzard's status servers and hoped this tool would allow me to keep track of the realms I use.

Regard it as a nice first effort but it needs to "play nice" and I won't use it again until I'm sure it does.

As to the fee, it's trivial and I don't begrudge it.

WoW Status Commentarygive the guy some credit.. - Version: 1.3.3, 4/25/2005 06:25AM PST

he's going off of information based on the web site i imagine (found here http://worldofwarcraft.com/serverstatus ). since the bizzard's own site is so inaccurate it's no surprise any tracker is.

I've been running this app for about a month on my G4 PowerBook. Not only have I found it to be inaccurate - telling me that server is running fine when it is in fact down - but also, and far more gauling, it crashes over and over and over again. I love the idea behind this app, but it seems to be massively unstable.

WoW Status CommentaryNifty idea... but shareware? - Version: 1.3.1, 3/30/2005 02:53PM PST

Was a nice thing to have, not worth $6. If author doesnt have time to do this up quickly then perhaps someone else should do an app.
