Product Description:

Mailings is an affordable, full featured application for batch emailing web pages or plain text documents to multiple recipients for marketing, news announcements, product updates etc. AppleScript and templates provide inclusion of dynamic content or personalization. Integrates with your mail reader, browser and Address Book to simplify functionality. The one window user interface makes the program a breeze to learn and use.

Major Features
  • Sends email to Address Book addresses or those imported from tab delimited text files.
  • Address Book integration enables you to send batch emails to any Address Book group, or to all via popup button.
  • Address Book "Me" card can be used to specify the sender of the emails using a popup button.
  • Supports all Address Book address types (work, home, custom).
  • Send plain text documents on your computer, or HTML documents located on any web server.
  • Provides the "plain text alternative" to an HTML document for mail readers that do not accept HTML content type.
  • Downloads and relinks HTML so it displays properly in most current mail clients.
  • Easily include a preamble (preface) for any mailing, including HTML, say for personalization.
  • Embed dynamic information, or personalize the emails using "template tags", which can tap into the power of AppleScripts. For example, a "ToName" tag can be used in the preamble to create a salutation to each recipient by name.
  • Preview functionality builds the mailing then sends it to you for viewing in your default mail reader.
  • Single window interface with drop down sheets simplifies program use.
  • Specify rate of mailing so mail servers are not overwhelmed (via intermessage delay).
  • Add arbitrary file attachments, managing them in a list view.
  • Save Mailings settings into Mailings documents for reuse.
  • Includes an "Open recent..." file menu item to access recent Mailings documents quickly.
  • Remembers your workspace between program launches so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Supports SMTP servers requiring password authentication; you can set the port to connect on.
  • Program help provided via Help tags, Apple Help Viewer and an online "Tour".
  • Errors are saved inside the Mailing document, and optionally into to log files so that you can easily resend or modify your list of contacts.
  • Optionally logs the beginning and ending of a mailing in the console.
  • Optionally supports return-receipt requets.
  • Manages errors by tracking "selected recipients", and saving such information into the Mailings document to resend at a later time.
  • Can import addresses from tab delimited text files into Address Book.
  • Automatic software update ensures you're always up to date with the latest version of Mailings.

What's new in this version:

  • Removed the < pre > HTML tag when inserting the preamble into the mail messages body content because the preamble can contain HTML anyway. (Some users didn't like that Mailings did this, but worked around it by just adding a < /pre > and < pre > to offset the ones Mailings inserted). The preamble editor now has a "hint" stating that preambles can contain HTML.

  • The option to not launch (switch to) the default email application after clicking the "Preview" button of the Mailer window has been added to the "Behavior" pane of the Preferences window; also this pane replaces the "Sound" pane, and includes the "Play sounds" option.

  • Mailings now attempts a second method of authentication if its first choice method fails, rather than abort the connection.

  • An alert sheet is displayed whenever a problem sending a command to the mail server occurs. This should help isolate problems for some users in the future.

  • A "verbose" console log option is added to the Logs panel of the Preferences window. When selected each command sent to the mail server is logged in the console window. Also, a menu item named "Console Log..." has been added to the File menu for quick access to the console window for Mailings.

  • Mailings now specifies the "US-ASCII" character set, rather than the "ISO-8859" character set in the Content-type header.

  • Mailings now sends the standard "Content-Transfer-Encoding" header with a value of "7bit" to match the previous change with charcater sets.

  • X-Mailer preference was not being saved correctly.

  • The help tag for the Preferences Advanced pane tab was not displaying.

Mailings Troubleshooting Reporthtml won't load in hotmail type receivers - Version: 1.9.46, 12/20/2008 07:39AM PST

I downloaded a copy to try out with my personal christmas card sending. The interface and work flow are so smartly designed that I really want to give this software a 5 star rating. However, the html I sent seems not to load in any of the hotmail type clients. Apple Mail and Outlook seem to be working fine. Why is that and how do I solve the problem?

Mailings works. It is simple and easy to use on the first try. And with further experience it answers the call to do more. If you manage an email list that requires frequent mailings ... buy it.

Mailings ReviewAwesome Mail Program - Version: 1.9.41, 8/26/2008 11:06AM PST

I've used the program for mailing of about 1000 for about a year and it does exactly what I need to to do. I highly recommend using this program. I handles HTML email, server STMP spam protection with a throttle, on the fly email editing, drop scheduling and more. I'm on the west coast and set up my emails in zip string to start in the East at about 6am here, 9am in the East. About the time most of my prospects have cleared their overnight email of junk! Great Job!
