Product Description:

Mailings is an affordable, full-featured application for batch emailing which delivers any web page or plain text document with attachments to multiple recipients for marketing, news announcements, product updates etc. Uses templates (and optional AppleScripting) for inclusion of dynamic content or personalization. Integrates with your mail reader, browser and Address Book to simplify its functionality. The one window user interface makes the program a breeze to learn and use.

The demo version you download now has a built-in password which will run for about 10 days.

What's new in this version:

New features:
  • The recipient/sender addressing methods have been "decoupled". This means that you can now mix and match the previous forms of addressing. For example, you can use Address Book to specify the recipients and manually enter the name and address of the sender.

  • The generation of the Message-ID header has been changed to increase compatibility with more mail servers. It now has the sender's email address domain name appended to the ID. The ID itself is generated from a UUID.

  • Mail server passwords are no longer saved to preferences files or inside Mailings documents. For security they are now saved as "application passwords" in the default Keychain (under the name "Mailings"; use Keychain Access to view them.)

  • A new preference enables ISO-8859 text encoding (off by default). This will apply to: message subject, to and from fields, as well as the plain text alternative and preamble (quoted-printable support added).

  • The progress sheet has been enhanced. In particular it now displays more status messages, and percent complete for larger messages (like those with attachments).

  • A new preference specifies two methods of handling relative URL's in HTML documents: base tags vs. relinking. Base tags are the default since this method requires less processing.

  • MIME-suffix mapping has been improved, and determination of MIME type in cases where there is no suffix, or the system MIME table has no entry, has been improved (this is relevant for attachments). In particular vCard and disk image attachments now work.

  • The sender value is now displayed on the (new) "Me Card" tab.

  • The path to the selected import file is now displayed on the (new) "Import" tab.

  • After an import succeeds Mailings automatically opens the "Recipients" sheet for confirmation (feedback).

  • The attachments list now has a "Size" column that displays the file size of the (unencoded) attachment. It also now shows the total size of all attachments.

  • More "default" preferences are stored (these are used to set the values of new documents): Use organization name, Name and Email on the (new) "Manual" tab for sender addressing, and the current Address Book group and address type on the (new) "Group" tab for recipient addressing.

  • The log file format has been improved: It now includes a "header" that displays information about the mailing.

  • The "Refresh" button on the Mailer window has been removed. Mailings now updates automatically if Address Book entries have changed, so there is no need for a refresh button.

  • "Binhex" encoding of attachments has been added in order to preserve any existing resource forks of the files.

Bug fixes:
  • The previous version contained a bug which could cause Mailings to freeze for about 60 seconds on start up if you were not connected to a LAN.

  • Some users were crashing when Mailings downloaded web pages or contacted the server to determine document MIME type.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or higher

Mailings Troubleshooting Reporthtml won't load in hotmail type receivers - Version: 1.9.46, 12/20/2008 07:39AM PST

I downloaded a copy to try out with my personal christmas card sending. The interface and work flow are so smartly designed that I really want to give this software a 5 star rating. However, the html I sent seems not to load in any of the hotmail type clients. Apple Mail and Outlook seem to be working fine. Why is that and how do I solve the problem?

Mailings works. It is simple and easy to use on the first try. And with further experience it answers the call to do more. If you manage an email list that requires frequent mailings ... buy it.

Mailings ReviewAwesome Mail Program - Version: 1.9.41, 8/26/2008 11:06AM PST

I've used the program for mailing of about 1000 for about a year and it does exactly what I need to to do. I highly recommend using this program. I handles HTML email, server STMP spam protection with a throttle, on the fly email editing, drop scheduling and more. I'm on the west coast and set up my emails in zip string to start in the East at about 6am here, 9am in the East. About the time most of my prospects have cleared their overnight email of junk! Great Job!
