I really can't see the point of this product. Although it is a quite beautifully designed piece of software, with simplicity in mind, I think this is just not aimed at me: I mean, who would rip 5 or more DVDs and keep them in their HDs?

I loved this app, my daughter uses it for her movies, but now apple dvd player no longer allows the playing of video ts folders(media type not supported) so either apple has to fix this, or mayby the developer could allow for the use of VLC

Works as advertised, with a little flair. Unfortunately I don't find opening Video_TS folders difficult to warrant spending 10 bucks on Matinee.
I followed the advice below and attached folder actions to my Video_TS folders. Spent $7 bucks for a six pack to enjoy while creating the scripts, and I still had $3 left over for another movie rental!

that's more like it; more friendly to the wallet and easier on the eyes (no pun intended). Keep up the good work with regards to maintaining and upgrading features!

initially, when I got tired of having to open each Video_ts folder by hand, I wrote myself a little applescript that would attach a custom folder action (which would ask me if I wanted to use TransLucy or Apple DVD player, then do exactly that each time the specified folder was double-clicked.
I came across matinee and was impressed - yes, all the reviews are on point. It is easy, well layed out, etc... but $15 for this? I would definitely be interested if it were $10. (it's not the $5, it's the principal....$15 is too much to ask for this, although it is very nicely written).

This is a nice app, but I really don't want to rip dvds. I have a couple of PowerFiles with MFX that let me keep my whole DVD and CD library in mounted directories. 400 disks online all the time.
I love the simplicity of the Matinee interface, it would be nice to be able to retrieve my entire video library from any machine on my network using this interface over VLC. Right now it takes me about 10 minutes to set up every time I want to use it, since I haven't had time to write an AppleScript to automate it. It seems like such a waste of time to just replicate the Matinee interface in AppleScript for VLC. Any chance that a VLC version of Matinee will be available?

Great update to an already awesome piece of software. What more could you ask for in a VIDEO_TS launcher? The interface is clean, simple and effective. It is rock stable on my system (10.3.7). A five star app.
