Product Description:

Remember our plug-in that lets you put a small picture inside your clip? Well, this plug-in does the *opposite*! It allows you to shrink your clip into a smaller area (e.g. a 'TV safe' zone) inside your clip. In the area surrounding your minified clip you can either display a background color or a picture of your choosing.

To make the effect even better, this plug-in allows you to 'shrink to position' and 'zoom back out' animations for better visual queuing.

What should I use it for?
While working on our Chroma keying plug-ins we discovered that one of the most-often needed functions could be achieved more easily: by placing an existing clip into a static picture. This plug-in answers that requirement.

Another useful application if for those of us who need to have their footage run on many different TV models, some of which may be old (or positively ancient): Minify allows you to constrain (shrink) your clip to the ‘tv-safe’ area of the clip, making sure that nothing becomes unreadable when played on old hardware.

What's new in this version:

Universal. along the way it picked up a few new cool features, such as rotation, transparency, and 16 different blend modes. this intel thing might be a lot of work, but the plug-ins surely seem to profit from it. we hope you like it.

iMovie Minify ReviewNice plugin - Version: 1.3, 11/19/2004 07:23PM PST

Very handy for photo slideshows and other things. I use it to put a border around photos so that they'll show up fully on TV screens (think "safe area"). Pretty easy to use. I do find the "Shrink" and "Expand" sliders to be confusingly named - they do not shrink and expand the video/image, rather they set the amount of time it takes to shrink and expand. Also there is an issue with the configuration screen sometimes showing the wrong image/video in its preview requiring you to unselect then reselect the effect in iMovie in order to get it to update - the developer says this is due to problems with iMovie itself. None-the-less you have to deal with it.
