What's new in this version:

  • Hard reset behavior is improved. With this firmware version pressing and holding the reset button for more than 5 seconds will cause the LED to flash rapidly. This visual feedback lets you know you’ve held the button long enough to trigger a hard reset
  • Improved reliability of WDS networks when using WPA security. If you had a WDS network secured by WDS and then removed any of the WDS nodes, this could cause a memory leak resulting in the need to reboot your WDS network nodes
  • Resolved an issue with inbound passive FTP to a port-mapped computer on the network
  • Resolved an issue with certain printers which were no longer recognized by the base station after the 6.1 firmware update was installed. With the 6.1.1 firmware these printers are again recognized by the base station.

Operating System Requirements:

My Airport Express worked just fine out of the box. However, I lose all communication with Airport express with this update while attempting to use AirTunes. I have gone back to version 6.1 of the software and all works just fine again

Apple AirPort Express Troubleshooting ReportAfter faithful service, suddenly, nothing - Version: 6.3, 5/15/2006 11:38AM PST

I'm reverting back to 6.1.1. I use my AE for Airtunes only and I can't get my iMac G5 2.0ghz to talk to it. I'm continually restarting, resetting and hard resetting, but it just keeps hanging. I get the green light, and sure, it's pretty, but inside I think it's just scrambled eggs. Will give the reversion a go and see if I get Airtunes back.

Apple AirPort Express ReviewiTunes Music drops - Version: 6.3, 1/4/2006 06:18PM PST

Purchased in April 05, my iMAC, Airport Express, and Extreme Base Station have all work well together. I did not update Airport 4.2 when it was release. Tonight I update Airport 4.2 and the new firmware for Airport Express and the Extreme Base Station. After playing music on the Express for a while (30 minutes or so) I started to notice dropouts. This never happened before. I have no clue which update, or combination of updates, triggered the dropouts. Hmmmm - just dropped out as I am typing this. Geesh, I had to restart the Express to get it going again. This will not do.
