RadioSHARK Troubleshooting Reportnoise in my Soundsticks - Version: 2.0.2, 9/26/2007 12:41AM PST

Sillen--2008
RadioShark has stopped working since several months on my computer (System 10.4.10). I've uninstalled RadioShark, but when i disconnect the USB hardware, and my computer goes into "Sleep" mode, I get a really annoying sound in my Soundsticks. How can I make this stop?

RadioSHARK software "phones home" when launched, even when automatic updates are inactivated.

RadioSHARK ReviewYay! At least tuning works again in 10.4.9 - Version: 2.0.2, 4/13/2007 05:14PM PST

This version fixes the problem with tuning in OS X 10.4.9 that arose if you applied the combo updater.

Unfortunately the software itself is still poor, and one of the most dramatic examples of an application going backwards in functionality and ease of use between a 1.0 and 2.0 release I've ever seen. This program could have really been something if Griffin Technology had put sufficient resources behind the software.

RadioSHARK ReviewStill can't schedule recordings - Version: 2.0.2, 4/13/2007 10:06AM PST

MasterBlaster
I've bumped my review to 2 stars because Griffin is showing some signs of providing support, and at least now the station can be changed without having to quit/restart the program to make the change effective.

However, the software crashes immediately when a program scheduled to be recorded is currently on the air. This makes it impossible even to listen to the program, let alone record it. For programs that are of such interest that one would like to record them, not being able to listen to them makes RadioSHARK all the more frustrating to use.

This is under 10.4.9 on Intel.

RadioSHARK ReviewTerrible Support - Version: 2.0.1, 3/24/2007 08:13AM PST

To fix a bug in their software that arises from applying the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Updater, Griffin recommends users reinstall Mac OS X. This comes after 10.4.9 was in perhaps the longest beta test period of any Mac OS X update.

An unusable and effectively unsupported product earns the lowest possible rating.

It's simple. Their hardware is kewl. Their software sucks. And they don't seem to care. Unfortunately.

Just curious.

RadioSHARK ReviewTotally buggy. Not ready for public release. Should be BETA. - Version: 2.0.1, 10/12/2006 03:57PM PST

Since you can't truly separate the software from the hardware. I'll address both. The reception is weak. Adding an external antenna does little to help.

My system...
20 " G5 iMac 1.8 Ghz 2GB RAM
Mac OS 10.4.8
RadioShark 2.0.1

There is a known issue with G5 iMacs and ACC recordings. The RadioShark will get "stuck" after recording as ACC and saving to iTunes. Works ok with AIFF. But then I have to go convert those AIFF files to ACC so they'll fit on my iPod. That take a fair amount of time. I have to do this every day. It's been replicated by Griffin. This is Griffin's response:
From a 6/20/06 email. "Actually, we are still trying to figure this one out...... It has us totally baffled. "

RadioShark will often freeze looping 1-2 seconds of audio until you unplug and re-plug in the USB cable. This causes show not to be recorded.

RadioShark often will not quit after recording. Sometimes it does, most times it doesn't.

The recording/scheduling interface is crappy. It's like a bad VCR. As you fill in the info for a schedule it jumps around as you tab leaving you in a different recording than the one you just created causing you to mistakenly edit other schedules.

Previously, when changing RadioShark from 106.7 FM, (or anything from 105.3 and above) to 570 AM, no audio would play until you manually re-tuned it to a higher AM station.

It's too bad. The idea is great just poorly executed. I guess I'll have to pay Audible for all those shows I like after all.

I cannot use the TimeShift function anymore. Version 2 acts like it is storing the radio, but when I try to move back to previous time, nothing is there. I liked the old interface better. It was cleaner and more user friendly.

RadioSHARK Troubleshooting ReportQuickTime 7.1.3 breaks EQ - Version: 2.0.1, 9/16/2006 05:27PM PST

knoodles_dotmac
After updating QT the use of the EQ in RS causes major distortion. With EQ off sound is normal. FYI for any users experiencing this.
