I have this software and it's very good, however, I can't figure out why I have version 4.98,
and the latest version is version 4.15. Are we going back in time or something??? Or did the developer just goof and mis-number what should have been 5.15? Anybody know?

Haven't done much with features beyond extraction but File Juicer is definitely a must-have utility if you do any work with graphics. Pulling a vector file from a PDF publication has repeatedly saved me the time and effort of finding the right person and the correct file in the graphics department of an organization.

The application is drag-and-drop-dead-simple. The extracted files are classified/organized in folders. Intuitive is the word - won't need the manual unless you want to tap into even more powerful features (e.g., recovering files off erased flash cards, from damaged files and more).
Updates and improvements are introduced on a pretty routine basis. Can't speak much for the responsiveness of the developer because I've never had problems and therefore, never required a response. Based on my experience, Juicer truly earns its 5-star rating.

Echo One also produces Double Take for making photo panoramas - another ease-of-use winner. If you've never tried making a pano, now's the time. And no, I have no relation to Echo One - just really appreciate apps that make my work a little easier.

File Juicer Commentaryclaims not fully true - Version: 4.9.3, 2/20/2008 12:00AM PST

This may be a great product, but the claim, file content recognized would only be extracted not converted, is simply not true. In my case I wanted to extract a mp3 from a .wmv file. File juicer called flip4mac, an .AIFF file was produced (exploding the disk space requirements by a factor of 10), and I had to force quit the session after hours. File Juicer had also grown to gigs of virtual memory. If I had been short on disk space, I could have been in for a nasty experience.

if you need mere conversion, because one file format has been packed into another, I suggest that you check out a web-based solution like media-convert.com.

i tried to use it to fix a bad avi file and it didn't work at all, but then again i'm not sure what this program is supposed to do so I may have been trying to get it to do something it's not designed to do!

This software is, simply, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Great interface, intuitive design, does exactly what's advertised (note: and a lot more - read the help files and forums!), very stable, and reasonably priced. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Very good for the money. I also have the DoubleTake, which makes it very easy to combine 2 or more photos to one pana-view ! Both apps work as advertized.
So far I'm happy and have not encountered any problems.
