Product Description:

Run your very own library from your home or office using our impossibly simple interface. Delicious Library's digital shelves act as a visual card-catalog of your books, movies, music and video games. A scan of a barcode is all Delicious Library needs to add an item to your digital shelves, downloading tons of info from the internet like the author, release date, current value, description, and even a high-resolution picture of the cover. Import your entire library using our exclusive full-speed iSight video barcode scanner, our Flic Wireless Laser Bar Code Scanner, or (the slow way) entering the titles by hand. Once you have all of your items in your Mac, you can browse though your digital shelves, check stuff out to friends using Apple's built-in Address Book and calendar, and find new items to read, watch, and play using Library's recommendations.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed our #1 crashing bug that was triggered when downloading descriptions that included images. We now strip all images from descriptions.
  • We now sort "series" in the correct order 1, 2, 3, ...10, 11, etc. instead of the old 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, ...
  • Lookup of items whose barcodes have the extra five-digit barcode to the right now works.
  • Fixed a bug where very small number of library files were refusing to read.
  • Modified Bluetooth scanner driver so we gracefully handle when the scanner reads EANs or UPCs with supplements (that is, an extra five digits after the barcode).
  • Created preference to use some specific country's Amazon server to look up items instead of guessing which one to use.
  • Fixed bug looking up video games outside the US (video games showed up as books).
  • New much smarter auto-saving technology to prevent date loss and corruption.
  • Fixed a bug where we inform the user of a crash multiple times in a row.
  • The Bug window now closes after you send a bug.
  • If the app crashes, we only ask you to submit the crash report once.
  • Fixed a little-seen crash triggered by removing entries without covers.
  • Fixed a crash triggered by dragging or adding an item from the 'similar items' list.
  • Fixed a rare crash triggered by deleting a shelf, deleting something that was on the shelf from your library, and then undoing both deletes.
  • Fixed a bug where we would delete an item from your library if it was added to a user-created shelf and then undone.
  • Fixed a rare crash triggered by deleting an item from the sample library when in demo mode and then undoing and redoing the deletion.
  • Fixed a bug where you could not run the app because we claimed "Beta 4 had expired".

Delicious Library ReviewUpgrading to new version destroyed it! - Version: 2.3, 10/21/2009 10:48PM PST

I just upgraded to the new version from v. 2.1.1, which worked fine, and now all it does is crash. I've also used Time Machine to restore the older version that worked and even that crashes no matter how many times I trash the preferences. This is not good as now I have no application and I'm out the purchase price. :-(

Delicious Library CommentaryPhones home ... - Version: 2.2, 9/1/2009 11:36PM PST

Delicious LIbrary V2 "phones home" on start-up. It wants to connect to the company for some reason, presumably logging, but who knows: Transferring data about you, your system, your database, pass along files it looks at on your system, etc.

If the connection is prevented, the software doesn't work thereafter. So it appears not to be just a check for updates. They want to mandate/force the connection.

Inquiries to the company get only an automated response with the latest story about how tiny they are and how overwhelmed they are. In four years, I've gotten only 1 meaningful response to 6 inquiries (a refund for DL2 because of the privacy issue, as I reverted to DL1).

DL version 1 did not phone home and only connected to amazon for look-ups.

Database software that initiates connections to the manufacturer's site without (normal) user knowledge should be considered DOA. The potential for mischief is extremely high.

Delicious Library CommentaryIf you like the iPhone app, DO NOT upgrade to 2.2 - Version: 2.2, 8/12/2009 07:38AM PST

Remember when amazon forced them to delete the App for the iTunes App store? Well, now this update removes it from your iPhone.

I love this company and their product, but I will not allow them, or anyone, to remove software from my iPhone without my permission.

I won't but from Amazon now because of this. The only voice they listen to is $$, so I won't give them any more of mine.
