Delicious Library ReviewUpgrading to new version destroyed it! - Version: 2.3, 10/21/2009 10:48PM PST

I just upgraded to the new version from v. 2.1.1, which worked fine, and now all it does is crash. I've also used Time Machine to restore the older version that worked and even that crashes no matter how many times I trash the preferences. This is not good as now I have no application and I'm out the purchase price. :-(

Delicious Library CommentaryPhones home ... - Version: 2.2, 9/1/2009 11:36PM PST

Delicious LIbrary V2 "phones home" on start-up. It wants to connect to the company for some reason, presumably logging, but who knows: Transferring data about you, your system, your database, pass along files it looks at on your system, etc.

If the connection is prevented, the software doesn't work thereafter. So it appears not to be just a check for updates. They want to mandate/force the connection.

Inquiries to the company get only an automated response with the latest story about how tiny they are and how overwhelmed they are. In four years, I've gotten only 1 meaningful response to 6 inquiries (a refund for DL2 because of the privacy issue, as I reverted to DL1).

DL version 1 did not phone home and only connected to amazon for look-ups.

Database software that initiates connections to the manufacturer's site without (normal) user knowledge should be considered DOA. The potential for mischief is extremely high.

Delicious Library CommentaryIf you like the iPhone app, DO NOT upgrade to 2.2 - Version: 2.2, 8/12/2009 07:38AM PST

Remember when amazon forced them to delete the App for the iTunes App store? Well, now this update removes it from your iPhone.

I love this company and their product, but I will not allow them, or anyone, to remove software from my iPhone without my permission.

I won't but from Amazon now because of this. The only voice they listen to is $$, so I won't give them any more of mine.

Delicious Library ReviewIPHONE APP UNAVAILABLE!!! - Version: 2.1.1, 8/8/2009 09:22AM PST

BEWARE:

The iPhone-application the developers are promising is REMOVED from the appstore.
(And no single word about this question yet on their website!)

I bought this app to have the possibility to take my cd/dvd collection with me on the iPhone while shopping, but I just discovered that I can totally forget about this.

Really, really disappointed..!

(PS: this could really be interesting software if you only use it at your home computer, but with this big miss I'm afraid I just cannot give a good rating.)

Delicious Library ReviewThe Best - Version: 2.1.1, 6/14/2009 05:36AM PST

Apple Design Award winner is a beautiful well thought out application, that continues to get better. Nothing compares with DL and now with the FREE iPhone application, I have not one complaint. Some users complain that developer takes to long to release updates/upgrades, I agree. However, I believe that the developer will not release an update/upgrade unless it is perfect.

I love PERFECTION and think DL 2.o has achieved perfection.

Delicious Library ReviewAn excellent update to a great product - Version: 2.1.1, 6/14/2009 12:23AM PST

Like Makosuke I've been using Delicious Library since Version 1.0. In all that time my biggest complaint has been the introduction of the horizontal details pain <- notice intended pun ;-)

I have hundreds of movies and albums and well over a thousand books cataloged so far and the application launches quickly and has been very stable.

On top of this I can now sync with my iPhone. Two thumbs up!

I dropped one star in "Support / Documentation" due to the lack of online help but you really don't need it as the application is pretty intuitive.

Delicious Library ReviewProducts has some improvements - Version: 2.1.1, 6/13/2009 10:17AM PST

There seems to be some improvements in the product that I like a lot. Easy to use. Not perfect but the link with Amazon's web sites in many countries is very practical when you buy movies in many different languages (French and English in my case coming from France, Quebec, Canada and USA). Remember writing to the creator and he answered my questions. I did not remember a crash in the product.

Recently I upgraded to v2.1.1 from (I think) v2. This formerly rock-solid program has become a crash-ridden mess. Only one crash triggered a message to the developer. All the others have been nearly instantaneous, although they usually leave the data intact.

Most frequently crashes happen when I click on an item without a graphic or when I click on the "Reviews" tab. It seems there's a serious bug in connecting to Amazon for the data. The upgrade also lost some of my data, including notes and personal ratings.

I trust the authors to fix this (so I still recommend it, but only if you try it), but right now it's a serious let-down to what was an excellent program. Other than a change of panel orientation, I don't see any real changes, which makes the crashing all the more annoying: one cosmetic change and your whole program goes down the tubes. Lame.

Delicious Library ReviewEPIC FAIL - Version: 2.1.1, 6/13/2009 12:16AM PST

I would not recommend this product. This was an impulse buy and it has been a disappointment. I really hope the developers work this out. I paid for the original App then I was ignorant enough to spend the money to upgrade to the 2nd version. I'm not a developer. I am certain alot of work goes into making these applications. My suggestion would be put more time into and make it work right or kill it altogether and stop taking money from people for a very sub par flashy application. It wants to be a very big, very great application. I'll give you credit for thinking big but you really need to get it sorted out. It takes forever to load. I literally launch it and leave the room to make a cup of tea. This is normal behavior and something I've learned to live w/ because I don't want to tell myself I really just blew 40 bucks on this mess. Once it gets going and you think its going to surprise you and work. You try to add anything to your list of movies, books, gadgets...and it FAILS. Locks up and takes a shit. I'm sorry I bought this application and I would hope the developer would be big enough to fix it or just take it down. Good luck guys. I'm sure there is alot of sweat and hours in this but it needs to be fixed and please don't charge everyone again for an update that makes it actually do what we all paid for it to do... work.
