Product Description:

Phenix splits up a file into several bits and reassembles a split-up file. Possible use : to split a large file into smaller files to be sent by e-mail.

What's new in this version:

  • Modification from Xavier Freymuth: Operations on files (splitting, reconstitution, creation of the Heliopolis folder) take place in a folder chosen by the user instead of the Desktop, in order to conserve free space in the Home folder (~) which can be precious in particular in the event of large files (several GB) to split or reconstitute.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3

just drop a file (i dropped the .zip file on it) then it made a folder on the desktop as promised called Heliopolis. To reassemble all you do is just select ALL the PIECES and drop on the pheonix. Like a couple others said it is crude but it's free and it DOES work. One question to the developer what about when something is emailed or burned on a cd then transfered to another computer how do you reassemble? (mac would be no problem just download this software to reassemble. But what about a pc? Call me curious?

It works, but it's very crude. I like it though. It's a good start at least.

only 1 star because it doesn't work: it quits immediately, no errors though. Needs a lot of work.
