Product Description:

Keyster is a hotkey application that allows you to bind any hotkey system-wide to applications, files, folders, sounds, and applescripts.

Keyster Features:

  • Keyster recognizes hotkeys pressed anywhere! including other applications and from the system. Give the hotkey a specific key combination, including optional command, shift, option, and control keys. Tell your hotkey what you want it to do and whenever that key combination is pressed the hotkey will be recognized and the run application, or open folder, or other action you told Keyster to do will happen.
  • Keyster can open files for quick access to the files most used, open a specific folder for those places that are browsed to most often, launch your favorite applications and it can even run applescripts.
  • The power of keyster is literally at your fingertips. The customizable hotkeys and the many types of event handling make Keyster an indispensable companion no matter how you use your computer.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 or better

Keyster ReviewTried and hated - Version: 1.0.1, 11/4/2004 01:37PM PST

Ok, I just downloaded it to see what it looked like after seeing that 5-star rating. The result? The person who did that rating is either the developer himself or is somebody who never actually looked at the program and has some reason for sucking up to the developer.

The interface on this program is godawful. It's hard to tell what it's doing and it looks like somebody just took REALbasic, downloaded my hotkey example code, and wrapped a listview around the hotkeys without actually putting any thought into it.

Seriously, if you want hotkeys and for some reason you don't want to use Quicksilver's triggers then go with Spark. It's a really nice, well-designed, intuitive hotkey manager and it's free.

I realize now that the price was probably way too high... It has been reduced now.

I've used Keyster a bit and it is very intuitive and easy to setup and use. It doesn't require any extra programs to run and is simple. The price seems a bit high, but the functionality works perfectly and allows me to open my apps and documents on the fly. The "Enter Hot Key" dialog makes creating hotkeys WAY easy.
