Would not run on Dual 2.5 G5, but does on Dual 800 G4 - Version: 1.03, 12/21/2005 09:13PM PST

Myst IV does not seem to support the newer GeForce 6800 GT in the dual 2.5Ghz G5. It crashes when trying to start a new game, as described below. It does work fine on my older Dual 800Mhz G4 system, with a GeForce2 card.

I've got what seems to be a reliable workaround for the crash when saving. After the save has completed, let the cursor fade out completely before moving it. Only then can you mouse over the buttons in the book mode. This fix works for me 100% of the time.
I've got another crash when viewing a large crystal in Spire. Solution is the same - let the cursor fade out completely before moving it.

I've tried the fixes listed on this site and have looked for support elsewhere, but I still cannot change the preferences in any sort of way or Myst will crash.
After changing the preferences and returning to the main menu, everything will work just fine until I try to mouseover one of the buttons on the book- this causes it to crash.
I am up to date and have changed the permissions as was suggested. I am running on a Powerbook G4 with a 1.33 Ghz and 512 MB of memory. Anyone have any suggestions?
