CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager CommentaryWhy No Updates? - Version: 4.1, 1/12/2009 10:28AM PST

DTDunn
I use this product daily, but am disappointed at the lack of updates (over two years). Once they worked the bugs out (not all are gone as trying to start certain Apple programs brings this app to the forefront), it seems they stopped all development. I have submitted multiple upgrade requests and they have never responded, except with some sort of stock response. I'm now looking for something else.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager ReviewMay not be perfect, but a solid app. - Version: 4.1, 5/26/2008 06:32PM PST

I demo'd this app, along with DietController, and opted to buy this one because it seemed to allow easier food and tracking customization. The "Check In" page is a bit funky, along with the calendar, but once you get used to the way that works, its a snap. Fairly easy to save or enter custom meals or foods, and that saves time for entering certain meals I have on a regular basis. The charts are pretty much the norm as other products out there.

Launches fast, no crashes so far (using daily for more than 3 months),

It's not perfect, and its not the "slickest" looking food management app (DietControllers calendar is neat), but it does the job for me and my wife. I'm satisfied.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager ReviewExcellent for tracking Calories - Version: 4.1, 1/16/2008 12:00AM PST

johnsnow2004
This product works great for tracking your total number of calories on a daily basis. it's great that it records calories from food you eat and subtracts those as a result of exercise done. is also great that it has the ability to track such things as sat. fats, sodium, cholesterol... well organized into breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks(aka... other foods eaten that day). user interface is very nice. total calories, and other nutrients are displayed clearly. searching foods/food categories is simple and you can have a favorite group per category to quickly select foods you eat often. is also nice to be able to create meal or exercise items that you can quickly select and add for that day. extensive database that you can add to. overall, a very nice program. it's a bit pricey (there are others out there touting similar features that are pricier), but does what it says it can do (very well) and is easy to use which should sufficiently offset the cost of keeping track of your health.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager ReviewNo More Database Updates... - Version: 4.1, 12/28/2007 07:44PM PST

Hi There..
It doesn't seem that they are actually supporting this program anymore, because they no longer provide food database updates..
I've written them at least 2 times in the last year, and they say it's down for maintenance ...
Too bad because other than that it was a good program....

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager CommentaryExcellent Product - Version: 4.1, 2/17/2007 09:51AM PST

The biggest plus about this product is that there is a Mac version. If you're looking for an easier method to track nutrion and exercise than Excel spreadsheets, this software is the way to go. There is a seven-day free trial available and the purchase price is $45. This may seem a bit high but compared to the price of admission to many weight-loss programs this is not too much to ask. Also, figuring in the time spent configuring Excel spreadsheets this software definitely deserves consideration.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager Reviewv4.1 - Version: 4.1, 2/10/2007 12:03PM PST

This is turning out to be extremely useful software, even though it does not cater to my specific needs as an athlete. It is flexible enough to be customisable to meet nearly all of them. I can't imagine a non-athlete needing anything more. Well executed... I hope future development keeps pushing the envelope of innovation in meeting the most demanding users needs.

The provided database is extensive, but is also customisable for your own home prepared food and activities. The existing food database is also revealing of American diets -- shocking.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager ReviewNice! - Version: 3.2, 1/3/2006 11:00AM PST

In 3.2 they seem to have fixed the problems with swedish characters å, ä, ö (these could not be used in custom foods, as they changed to a little alien symbol when dragged to the diary), which makes this a very welcome update to me. Also the nesting in folders looks better now, not as cluttered as before with the little symbol. The application also seems to start faster.

CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager CommentaryWhat did they change? - Version: 3.2, 12/30/2005 11:24AM PST

This new release has been a long time coming, but there is no mention of what was changed in this release. Upon initial load, the software looks basically the same.

I like this software, but I wish one company would focus one a premium diet/excercise program for the Mac. The company that makes this software has many things going on (go visit their website). They seem to have their hands too full to listen to suggestions and make changes/improvements in a timely fashion. If they listened harder they could make more money by generating major upgrades that they could charge for.

Most of the suggestions made on this page have been made before. I know, because I have made them myself, directly to the company. I get polite responses, but they don't do much. Too bad.

If anyone from calorieking.com reads these entries, I will GLADLY pay for improvements. Making changes does not have to be an expense, it can and should generate more revenue. Listen to your user base.

PS - If you made any real effort to market your product to the Mac community, you could easily sign-up many new users.
