Product Description:

SimpleMovieX is a replacement for QuickTime Pro.
It lets you edit any movie that QuickTime can read.
Cut, Copy and Paste between movie clips to build your movie, then export it in any QuickTime supported format.

SimpleMovieX has exclusive features :
  • MPEG-1 and MPEG-2* editing and exporting.
  • A super fast search feature lets you find specific scenes inside a movie, like commercials for example.
  • Adaptable timeline for sharp playhead positioning even in very long movies.
  • SimpleMovieX is FREE for occasional users**.

* MPEG2 only if you have QuickTime MPEG2 component installed. Only program stream with mp2 audio.
MPEG editing is fast, because it is done without reencoding. Edition is frame-accurate if the movie is saved as QuickTime mov, or GOP accurate (Group of pictures, represents 0.5 to 0.7 seconds) if the movie is exported as MPEG.
** SimpleMovieX does not encode MPEG ! MPEG export is done through splitting and joining existing files
*** Free trial version is unlimited in time and functionality, but delays saving by 60 seconds.

What's new in this version:

  • MPEG export now includes sound track.
  • Video and Audio controls. Movie resize dialog.
  • Timeline easier to operate with bird's eye view and edit marks navigation.
  • New editing commands : Add, Add Scaled, Separate tracks.
  • Support for picture insertion with dialog.
  • Movie information displayed : Tracks, size, disk capacity gauge, fps.
  • Movie Gallery supports drag and drop.
  • RefMovies are "protected" by specific Save dialog.
  • Cancel button during save and export. "Operation complete" sound.
  • Now works with MacOS X 10.2 Jaguar.
  • Dozens of small improvements and bug fixes.

SimpleMovieX CommentaryWarning -- this program installs something... - Version: 3.9.2, 11/14/2009 01:45PM PST

This program installs something on your computer that keeps track of how many times you've tried it. I tried this program today, not remembering I had tried it several months ago, and it let me know I had now used it twice. Trashing the program does not remove the tracking thing, whatever it is. Does anyone know what it's called so I can find and delete it?

SimpleMovieX ReviewSimpleMovieX still has a major problem with AVIs - Version: 3.9.1, 8/14/2009 05:42AM PST

I tried SimpleMovieX several times but there is still a major problem for me (and I guess many other users) - and I never got any response by the developers:

I'm using an online TV recorder (save.tv) which saves videos as AVIs (DIVX).

In the past I've cut out commercials of those AVIs with VirtualDub, a free Windows application (http://www.virtualdub.org) via Parallels Desktop on my Mac.

Native Editing with VirtualDub works perfect. I am viewing the edited videos on my Playstation 3 without any problems.

Now - since I'm using a Mac - I've tried the recent version of SimpleMovieX. While I can cut and save those AVIs (DIVX) with SimpleMovieX (respecting the editing points = keyframe restriction) like with VirtualDub - and also view them on my Mac - showing those videos edited with SimpleMovieX on my Playstation 3 doesn't work: The movie and the sound are playing too fast and frames are jumping.

While I've read what has been published about the AVI format I have to stick to it since it's what I get from save.tv - and I don't want to loose quality and time by re-encoding the videos.

So since loss-less cutting of AVIs (DIVX) is possible VirtualDub I cannot understand why it shouldn't be possible with SimpleMovieX.

I really would like to buy SimpleMovieX if it worked for me.

SimpleMovieX ReviewPerfect for the job i needed it to do. - Version: 3.6.3, 6/1/2008 11:32AM PST

The Gizzle
I bought this just to add chapter markers to my apple TV and iphone video files.
This great little app allowed me to add chapter markers to video files i already had in itunes.
With its great UI, I was able to do this quickly, easily and safely.
No over the top bells and whistles, just a clean and robust little app.
This app does things that quicktime just doesn't do. Well worth the price.
