PictureSync ReviewYes, it's buggy and rarely works - Version: 1.8r15, 6/21/2008 07:32AM PST

At first this software seemed brilliant, I use Flickr, Fotki and Smugmug and loved the idea of using a program that could automate my uploads.

Unfortunately, Flickr only works 75% of the time, Fotki and Smugmug rarely work. It will tell me that it is logged into my Smugmug account but when I upload it can't create folders or access folders I've created. I've tried deleting this app, reinstalling and using on other Macs but still no go.

I've emailed the developer numerous times and there's no response. Worst $15 I've ever spent.

The reality is Flickr already has a few great Mac tools for uploading. Fotki can be done using any FTP software. Smugmug uses a reliable web interface. There's no reason to use PictureSync other than automating batch uploading which does not work as advertised.

Before you think about spending $15, send some emails to the develop and see how long it takes for a reply. If there's no answer like what many of us are getting then you know how much he values your contribution.

Bottom line: don't buy this software, it doesn't work

This version does not have the problem I complained about below, but it refuses to upload all my pictures to flickr - it tells me that a run of pictures in the middle of my set have "failed" but gives me no more information. The included documentation is no help whatsever. I keep trying to upload these same pictures and it keeps failing without any further information, end of story. Since they were in the middle of a huge set, I have to delete all the uploaded pictures and reupload them all again using some other program in order to keep them in the right order on Flickr. So trying to upload them with Picturesync was a complete waste of my time.

PictureSync ReviewWorks well but expensive? - Version: 1.8r15, 1/31/2008 12:00AM PST

I've been looking for a way to upload to Shutterfly efficiently from Aperture. This program seems to work like a charm. Stable and easy to use. However, $30 seems a bit steep to me for what can be done, admittedly much less reliably, using various free browser plug-ins (including Shutterfly's). Though I use Aperture, I'm an amateur photographer, not a professional. I'd pay $15 to support the shareware though.
