SimCity 4 Rush Hour CommentaryThe new Features of Expansion pack - *censored*iness? or am I right? - Version: 1.0, 4/15/2007 11:35AM PST

I have a few issues with conceptual design of some of the transporation features - asside from my poor speed and the clumsy autoscroll that causes my map to move 4-8 spaces before i can get it to stop ( not to mention the delayed reaction i get from clicking too many times on a selection and the slow response to cover the correct object with the bulldoze function- not only that but the auto-assist for building spreads of zones when you really only wanted to squeez one in a small locale - and 3000$ later you've got 30!

but my specific complaint is the limitations for anyone who wishes to NOT build in Grid formation ONLY

i can't understand why avenues one has to fight tooth and nail to get two angled corners to connect - the limitations in where i can place "T" intersections for HWy's and and where the hell can you switch traintracks from ground to elevated rail? i assumed it was automatic like Hwys?
I mean I'm aware it's a game and it's not nearly as flexible as real life -
but come on
Even i don't walk in straight lines all the time

other than that- the game does stimulate for hours- but I do find these creation areas could be a bt more vast and accomodating to the scratch City planner and those who wish to experiment in non-linear systems
games are supposed to involve a certain element of fun- and silly too!

can you consider coming up with more Architectural styles than just the 4?

Coudl you also look into the random limit for landforms ( can you add the % water to land ratio with those options ?) those were fun in the old days ( I still own and very rarely play SimCity 1 for my NES ( ok I'm showing my age here )
if by some magic these things can be included in the next round ( personally i'm not the least interested in Signage and labels- or flying a helicopter around town ) I would be the first in line to purchase!!

cheers!
this is constructional critiscm - i don't hate anyone - I just felt these are concerns i have that i thought you MIGHT want to consider..
even though i would prefer to place "4 stars" , i hardly feel i would be heard if i did such- i will go with "Neutral" ( all will be marked neutral - except price since to me, money is irrelevant! )

without prejudice;
J,M.

SimCity 4 Rush Hour ReviewFabulous expansion pack - Version: 1.0, 10/12/2005 06:50PM PST

It's really been robbing hours from me, and I'm having so much fun. There is, unfortunately, a bug I've found on my Powerbook G4 (10.4.2) that causes the game to ignore all button clicks and commands. It would be great if there were a fix since it happened to me twice.

Incidentally, if you're like me and just want to build, hunt down the hack tool that you can read about on this page: http://www.simtropolis.com/Content.cfm?mode=omnibus&view=106#LessonA . It lets you, among other things, edit your city ordinances so that you get money instead of spend it, allowing you to dispense with the "weaknesspays" hack.

SimCity 4 Rush Hour ReviewGreat game, but buggy! - Version: 1.0, 10/22/2004 11:17AM PST

Has anyone else had trouble running this on an ATI Radeon card? I upgraded my stock GeForce 4 MX to a Radeon 9000 128MB, and this game is the only one that lost performance! It only seems to affect Rush Hour, because a regular installation of Sim City 4 v1.02 works fine. Aspyr has not responded to my e-mail request for support of this problem yet.

As for the game itself the new rush hour features are great. Though I don't do most of the missions, I enjoy many of the new transportation options available in the Rush Hour expansion!

Sim City Rush Hour must have had allot of CRAP source code if it took the porting company so long ?
i don't blame the people who ported it but i blaim Maxis for producing such crappy source-code.

if the source was good then it would be out a couple of month earlier.

SimCity 4 Rush Hour ReviewExcellent! - Version: 1.0, 10/21/2004 10:29PM PST

This expansion pack, coming to the Mac, makes SimCity 4 fun again! Also makes the game much more realistic, stable (fewer crashes), quicker. I love it! However, Aspyr is a bit late with updating VersionTracker to the expansion pack's release; I've had it for a couple weeks now.
