Thumbscrew CommentaryUniversal binary needed. - Version: 1.0b9, 12/13/2006 09:59AM PST

I love this little app, but it doesn't appear to work on Intel Macs? I would sure love to see a universal binary.

This tool is great for generating stylish thumbnails for use in blogs, galleries, you name it. Works great for large or small batches, and the program behaves well and is easy to set up with only a few very useful options that one can tinker with.

The developer has been responsive to change requests, and I happen to know he's a pretty alright guy anyway. ;-)

I use it on various projects, such as a newsletter sent to house rabbit enthusiasts that includes a gallery of reader submitted photos.

Thumbscrew CommentaryMore or Less ... - Version: 1.0b5, 5/8/2005 02:24AM PST

Do the Work, but its no easy set the preferences (needs to restart the app to apply). Also (as missing in many other apps) needs:

- an option to select the jpg quality output
- The same treatment (border, shadow) for the destiny (not thumbnail) output image (also could select the type of the file and quality) and a selector for the bottom colour)
- a extra preference to include a relative path for the html (http://www.domain.com/path/path)
- a automatic option to put the html (without breaks) on clipboard
-a option to upload via FTP/webdab to a server

Then ask for 12$ and you have a winner, many Wordpress users find this app very useful.

Thumbscrew CommentarySo close! - Version: 1.0b2, 12/4/2004 05:29PM PST

Well it creates nice thumbnails, but so far that's all, right? The JPGs are all with black background (even after preferences set on white). And I don't get the HTML output file (??). What's that? Can it create a website? And how?

A Readme would be great!

So far it looks promissing, but isn't much more than a "make-thumbnails-png" app. : (

Thumbscrew Usage TipA-HA! I was missing something obvious - Version: 0.1.1, 10/21/2004 02:27PM PST

I was missing the fact that the generated image(s) are placed in the folder(s) where the originals came from and are not displayed in the drop box except momentarily. Thanks for explaining, Zachery!

Thumbscrew CommentaryI must be missing something obvious here - Version: 0.1.1, 10/20/2004 10:02AM PST

This doesn't work at all for me. I've tried dragging TIFF, JPEG and GIF into the box with exactly the same results - the picture of the cliffs (see screenshot above) flickers slightly then returns. Thumbnail? Nope. Drop shadow? Nope. Image rotation? Nope. That's with version 0.1 and 0.1.1 and I'm running MacOS 10.3.5, if that's relevant.

Thumbscrew Troubleshooting ReportMax Degree not working? - Version: 0.1, 10/20/2004 02:49AM PST

This would be a neat and handy little app.. except the angle constraint doesn't seem to work. Set it for max angle of 5 degrees, fed it a folder of images, it rotated them randomly at far greater angles. I measured a few using photoshop, found 45 degree rotation, 30, etc...

If the degree function worked, this would be a very nice little tool to have.

Good first try, quality seems good on the thumbs!
