SimiliPod ReviewAdequate, but no iPod - Version: 1.4, 4/1/2005 04:15AM PST

Unlike others I can see the point of this, in fact I went looking for something like this for a specific project I'm working on. Unfortunately this falls somewhat short of what I had in mind. The basic problem is, that as an iPod owner, this works nothing like an iPod. It lists only your playlists, so while you can view tracks in the playlists, if you're not sure what playlist a particular track might be in, you're stuck. This is made infinitely worse by the fact that there is no top level iPod-like menu that allows you to browse by song, artist, album, etc. This is the basic functionality I was looking for, and it's not there, so for me, it's useless. On top of that the icons are ugly and some of them are completely non-obvious. Also, why are there two (ugly) volume controls? I can't figure out that at all. Only the iPod mini is simulated, oh and the U2 edition, sort of. Something that truly emulated the iPod could be handy, but this deviates enough from the real thing as to just seem half baked.

SimiliPod ReviewNeat - Version: 1.3.2, 12/20/2004 07:58PM PST

I think this is a neat little iTunes controller. I don't understand what everyone is getting so worked up over.

Anyway, I don't understand why the website is in French, and this version of the app appears to be some sort of Japanese version.... is there an English version? I can't read the names of most of the skins...

I like the new Artwork feature (which is kinda hard to find... click the battery icon), but it doesn't seem to want to go away once you display it.
