MAMP ReviewBeware MAMP 1.8 doesn't support INNODB - Version: 1.8, 9/4/2009 08:17PM PST

(0 of 1 users found this comment useful)

Don D.
After spending 1.5 hours trying to figure out why INNODB was not working I discovered (not documented on the main site or release notes (where are they???) but the blog):

http://blog-en.mamp.info/2009/09/mamp-and-innodb-at-mysql.html

"The MySQL Version 5.1 packaged in MAMP 1.8 does not contain the Storage-Engine InnoDB. We are actually working on the implementation of InnoDB. We soon will be releasing MAMP 1.8.1. This new version will fix the issue."

As much as a huge fan of MAMP/MAMP PRO that I am (normally 5 stars) I wish that there had been a bit more QA (this release 1 star—boo!).

I went back to version 1.72 for now.

MAMP CommentaryMAMP 1.6 won't work on OSX 10.4.9 PPC G5 - Version: 1.6, 6/4/2007 06:48AM PST

btoh
Hello all,

I downloaded version 1.6 and installation went well. I can see the phpinfo on the welcome page. However when I put my test.php files in the /MAMP/htdocs as instructed, it just spits out the whole code rather how the php page is supposed to look. Does anyone else have this problem? How should I resolve it?

I finally downloaded version 1.4, followed the exact instructions and all is well now.

Does version 1.6 not compatible with OSX 10.4.9?
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks!

FYI, Zend Optimizer 3.2.2 is included in this MAMP. This version of Zend Optimizer should work on Intel Macs.

MAMP ReviewVERY nice, but... - Version: 1.5b1, 11/21/2006 05:38AM PST

  1. No documentation. You're supposed to know the parts, I guess
  2. Needs clean-up. Duplicate file names scattered over directories.
  3. Developer doesn't include various fixes provided by users on the forum.
    • Fix the non-functioning widget.
    • Make usable by non-admins
Addressing 2 and 3 would raise the rating by two stars.

After fiddling for months with vanilla installs of MySQL, PHP, etc. I just installed MAMP 1.4.1. I haven't actually done anything with it, but it is up and running and looks beautiful. So far it looks like a really great tool. Thanks!
(Note, I can't comment on stability, having only just installed it.)

I used already several versions of mamp and I'm always as delighted. Very stable, easy to install and manage ad to work with.
Just be carefull not to delete your db and http docs when upgrading.

MAMP Usage TipSave your htdocs folder too - Version: 1.3.1, 7/20/2006 04:27AM PST

As well as db folder and conf folder, mentioned previously, make sure you save your htdocs folder, elsewhere. Lost mine of all previous upgrades. Won't be silly again!
