MAMP 1.6 won't work on OSX 10.4.9 PPC G5 - Version: 1.6, 6/4/2007 06:48AM PST

I downloaded version 1.6 and installation went well. I can see the phpinfo on the welcome page. However when I put my test.php files in the /MAMP/htdocs as instructed, it just spits out the whole code rather how the php page is supposed to look. Does anyone else have this problem? How should I resolve it?
I finally downloaded version 1.4, followed the exact instructions and all is well now.
Does version 1.6 not compatible with OSX 10.4.9?
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks!

McERNie- No documentation. You're supposed to know the parts, I guess
- Needs clean-up. Duplicate file names scattered over directories.
- Developer doesn't include various fixes provided by users on the forum.
- Fix the non-functioning widget.
- Make usable by non-admins
Awesome!

"The MySQL Version 5.1 packaged in MAMP 1.8 does not contain the Storage-Engine InnoDB. We are actually working on the implementation of InnoDB. We soon will be releasing MAMP 1.8.1. This new version will fix the issue."
As much as a huge fan of MAMP/MAMP PRO that I am (normally 5 stars) I wish that there had been a bit more QA (this release 1 star—boo!).
I went back to version 1.72 for now.
