Many changes to this new version. I am impressed with the speed of the new OpenBase system for fast access to all of my data. Great new interface. Very easy to get used to. Nice 'graphic' look as well. These guys have been working hard, and it's going to pay off!! Fantastic. If you need a program to accurately manage all contact info, emails, pdf's, the works...you won't be disappointed. Any past short-comings of previous versions are forgiven with this update. Everything installs easily. Upgrading from previous version was also easy. Even the pdf manual has been better put together for easy walkthrough for first timers.

Redlien Account Executive ReviewWhat it doesn't do - Version: 1.3.4, 9/10/2005 11:52AM PST

It tracks client info, but it is not trustworthy of my business. A warning to those who plan on using it with any integration with iCal or a Palm device. IT JUST DOES NOT WORK. RAE will not syncronize to iCal, or iCal to RAE. Any information scheduled within RAE will temporarily show up in iCal, however, it will disappear when you iSync, or close and re-open iCal and try and add new data. This makes iCal and a Palm pilot very obsolete. I use my Palm extensively for making appointments on the road. I have found it very upsetting to lose my dates for any appointments scheduled by my Palm and dumped into iCal, where it is later 'removed' after having to re-input my appointments into RAE. (Does anyone like doing things twice?) Any new scheduled events done within RAE are placed into iCal and the entire iCalendar is simultaneously deleted upon doing an iSync to my computer and palm. Uploading info from iCal does not work!!! There is a 'sync to iCal' within RAE, but it does nothing. I have contacted RAE through email MANY times, but have never heard a single response back from them. I also know that this problem is RAE as I have done a clean install of everything, including latest versions of Palm Desktop Software 4.1, iSync 1.5, iSync conduit 1.2, and iCal 1.5.5. I even opened up a new .Mac account, and tried to publish an iCal after scheduling a bunch of events in RAE. I hit 'publish' and when I went to check my calendar online it informed me that the contents of the file were corrupt and could not be read. Hmmm...nice. RAE writes corrupt info to iCal. I then unPublished the calendar and scheduled some events from only within iCal, published, and everything worked just fine. Apple's own iSync, iCal, and Conduit for my Handspring, is perfect...just not the software I took for granted I paid money for. There are also other bugs in the system such as not being able to attach any kind of file to someone's contact information (i.e, .pdf, jpg, tiff)
This product is not ready for personal or business use. Download the demo, but don't buy.

Switched from Act and Goldmine to RAE. Good interface...and getting better. The company is responsive to my needs, and tends to integrate suggestions well. I can recommend it

Repeated crashes. I just lost all the data I've been entering for the past few hours so I'm not too happy.
Doesn't show important info on one screen so you can access it while talking with a contact by phone.
I'm pretty sure Intuit Contact Manager would be much better for the same price, but alas, it does not run on Mac.
No manual, though it's been promised for a long while.
My quest for the ideal CRM continues.....

I have been looking for a program like this for the MAC. I am a financial consultant and there are not many contact mgt programs for the mac (most of the industry specific ones are pc only), and this seems to have most of the functionality that I require. It seems to be a good start, but the program has crashed on me 4 times, and I have only been trialing it for 2 days, and it really needs some instructions or manual. I am trying to figure out the calender, and it does not seem that I can add an event to it. I assume that you need to have a contact entered and then schedule an event through that contacts interface, but what if I have a meeting with multiple contacts, or no contacts? With the right developement and some added features this program would get my money. (the crashes all seem to be caused by the sync feature with ical.... it crashes when you choose sync from the pref menu, and then when you restart the program you crash again after a couple minutes. When I unchecked the sync option and now the porgram has been running for an hour).

Redlien Account Executive ReviewLike what I see so far - Version: 1.0, 11/13/2004 09:04PM PST

I have been actively using the beta's and the 1.0 release, and it keeps getting better and better. The set-up is nice, and the dashboard layout is good, and the response time to questions from the developer is incredible! But it has quite a few bugs, and it still has a ways to go. Including
1-Without a manual, alot of guess work is needed to figure out various features, although one is promised for December
2-Can't figure out how to change the fields of the product catalog to fit a sales organization that doesn't sell "products" or charge by the hour
3-No palm sync yet, although there is sync to iCal

If you are looking for a Mac Sales Contact manager, give it a try, it has alot of promise.

Redlien Account Executive ReviewNot bad - Version: 1.0, 11/10/2004 01:02AM PST

I like this app. It has a good approach to contact management and has a simple, clear interface that is a little clunky but still far more elegant than Daylite. Its feature set seems about average for a first version and hopefully the authors will keep adding to the mix. I would love to see envelope printing and a daily notes view. Also recurring tasks is essential for me.

There many are issues that need to be addressed such as speed. I find the interface unresponsive and that's with only 30 items in the database. There are lots of screen redraw problems, the scrollwheel doesn't work in all cases, and the UI is a little inconsistent. For example, there is an add contact button but I could not figure out how to add an event.

Overall, it's an excellent version 1.0 but needs lots of refinement and features.

Redlien Account Executive Developer NoteUpgrade issues from Public Beta 1 - Version: 1.0b2, 10/25/2004 06:58PM PST

For those who are upgrading from Public Beta 1 and are experiencing crashes upon startup, please delete your User Settings and Preferences file before running Public Beta 2. You will not lose your contact data if you do this. To easily remove those two files, hold down the following key combination while starting Redlien Account Executive Public Beta 2: Command+Option+Control+Shift. This will erase both files and should allow you to use this version without further incident.

Much better than the first beta, Developer really works great with his beta test reports and reporters. Very powerful way to view a great deal of information about your prospects, customers, activities, opportunities, and events. This software could become a killer app!
