Product Description:

RSSOwl is a free RSS / RDF / Atom Newsreader in Java using SWT as fast graphic library. Supported OS are Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. Some features are export of news to PDF, Import / Export with OPML and the full-text-search with syntaxhighlight. For easy execution, a exe-file is provided on Windows, a shell-script on Linux / Solaris and the Mac version is deployed in an application bundle. RSSOwl comes with a huge list of sample favorites.

What's new in this version:

The RSSOwl development team is happy to announce a fresh new version of RSSOwl.

After four months of work, version 1.2.2 is now available for download. This version comes with some enhancements, a lot of bugfixes and improved security from the embedded browser on windows.

The integrated Feed-Validator was removed due to lacking support for RDF and Atom formats. The new Validator allows to enter the URL of the Newsfeed and will forward to the well-known W3C Feed-Validator that supports all major formats and namespaces.

The Feed-Search is now recognizing a lot more results as valid Feeds with fixing a Bug in the URL-processing. Special thanks to Milan Simonovic for reporting this issue.

Settings are now backup'ed and restored in case a previous shutdown failed to store them correctly. This should fix issues, where all settings were lost.

The SWT library was updated to the most recent Version 3.2.

Thanks to Vardan Movsisyan for providing a translation to Armenian.

For a detailed list of changes that also include a lot of bugfixes, take a look at the changelog at http://www.rssowl.org/CHANGELOG.txt.

RSSOwl Troubleshooting ReportRSSOwl is slowing Dashboard and Frontrow down - Version: 1.2.3, 4/9/2007 02:55AM PST

mariusbach
hi,
as soon as RSSOwl is activated, frontrow and even dashboard is losing it's pretty animation. the animation is not "flowing" anymore. doesn't look nice and is very slow. as soon as i close RSSOwl, pretty animations are back.

i don't know why... i also often have crashes when reading articles. even when doing nothing it suddenly crashes.

however, RSSOwl is my favourite newsreader. perhaps the developers can try to fix this frontrow issue.

greets and happy eastern

RSSOwl ReviewPowerful! - Version: 1.2.2, 9/10/2006 11:55AM PST

For something free this is incredibly powerful and complete.
  • SEARCH!
  • Add feed from URL has one of the most powerful feed discovery tools I've seen.
  • OPML Import was so quick!
  • has a one click feed editing.
The only thing is I can't manage to select several feeds when drag and drop, is that normal?

When starting off I was a bit confused as it first show the intro and no menu, but once you have a feed showing all the tools appear.
