Product Description:

Every webmaster knows that after a new e-mail address is published on a Web page the corresponding account is soon filled up with spam.
Why is this so? Spammers for several years now have been using spiders/crawlers on the World Wide Web to continually search the contents of sites for the "@" character and collect every e-mail address they find for inclusion in their target address databases.
MAILTO GUARD can encode your e-mail address so that it can't be recognised by spammer tools, but remains perfectly visible (and functional!) to you and the vistiors of your page.
A free executable version (no installation required) for Windows is available as well as this online Flash version for immediate use. There's also a universal version available for Mac, Linux or any operating system supporting the Flash Player plugin

Sounds good, but could I just encode the @ symbol to achieve the same effect?

Thank you soooooo much for this little gem!!!! Works like a charm when taken the steps mentioned below!!!!!

I've tried very limited javascripts to do this, but they hardly compare! I spread this code throughout my site and am now a happy camper! :)

I also figured out that if you change the characters between the first ">" and "</a>" you can put linked text rather then show the email address!!!

Thanks again! Kudos on a job well done!

To get the START.html file to work properly, simply rename the mailtoguard_eng.swf file to mailtoguard.swf and it should load properly.

You cannot use the Safari Edit menu to cut/copy/paste text in Flash animations, nor can you use the command-x/c/v shortcuts. You can, however, control-click on the highlighted text in the Flash animation to get a contextual menu which has Copy as one option.
