Product Description:
An easy to use yet extremely useful RSS/RDF/ATOM news ticker with a nice Cocoa interface, voice control and iPod syncing.
What's new in this version:
- removed pausing when mousing over the ticker. pause key works instead?
- added an option to allow drag-scrolling the ticker without it gaining focus (becoming the front window)
- added higher frame rate options, faster scrolling (note: your scroll speed will be reset this version)
- scrolling between items now stops smoothly
- you can now undo/redo "mark all as read/unread"
- added a new "flow" style that can do some neat stuff (especially with feed colors ;-))
- added a new checkboxes style -- simple
- added 20 second feed loading timeout
- return key now opens the first ("selected") item, delete key marks it as read
- fixed a window shadow bug -- ticker background color cannot be transparent when shadow is on, this allows for other cool styles now (play with shadow/transparent background settings)
- cpu usage optimizations
- scroll stopping bug fix (1280 resolution was hard-coded in 2.0, woops)
- minor fading transition bug fixes
- minor ui changes
- minor ipod sync fix

As was said in an earlier comment this package does work." well sorta " . I have discovered some actions which will cause it to crash mentioned in a prior comment. But now I have discontinued using this completely now because . One will be just going on and out of left field will come a message " un-expectantly quit ". However a more serious flaw is that two or three times a day my connection to the Net goes completely dead. Once reset all is back to normal and remains that way until "NewsTicker " is brought into action. Conclusion --- not worth the Hassle this time I lost my shareware fee. Perhaps others can put up with this sort of thing, but I shall wait for a more stable package.

This package does work. However the moment one begins to make changes to the behavior of the App it crashes sometimes the changes hold sometimes they do not. In my case I would get a consistent cash when I tried to speed of the ticker. The developer was informed about this in Nov 08 and as I write we are in Apr 09. Hopefully the developer will address this soon. Because now I am wishing I had not paid the fee to register this. My own fault this version was out May 08 here we are 11 months later. He has my money and I get the feeling that I made a unwise buy here.

The idea behind this app is great and working quite well under 10.5.5.
I would give this app a 5 star rating if there weren't the crashes when trying to change some settings as ticker animation speed and speech prefs.
As vers. 2.37 is not listed in the Product Version tab I guess the crashes are due to the novelty of this program... nevertheless, worth recommending it.
