Product Description:

Deep Freeze Mac OS X is like two products in one:

Non-restrictive protection allows a standard user to make any changes they like in their home directory, but restores the entire directory to its exact original configuration after a logout, restart, selected time interval, or on a selected day of the week. Any changes made by a user are temporary, including changes to the desktop, Library, fonts, Dock, or screen settings.

Restrictive protection lets you specify read, write, and execute privileges on-the-fly on a per-user basis for any file, folder, application, or system preference pane, no matter where it resides on the hard drive.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

awesome way to let users loose on your machines and not have to clean up after them! everything goes back to normal after a restart everytime!

I can only see really small installations using this. RADMind can be set up and scheduled to do the same things and if you are using Networked accounts you can create login and logout hooks that do the same thing.
Lazy MS Admins are the only ones using this.

Deep Freeze Mac OS X CommentaryWhat is the point? - Version: 2.03.070.0077, 5/2/2006 10:04AM PST

Other than for computers on display in stores or perhaps for publically available computer terminals I do not see the point.

Why would I install this on a home computer if every time I reboot then any installations or changes I made would be wiped out?

Unless I am missing something (I did watch the video on their web-site) I just do not see the value for this on a home computer.
