Product Description:

Inspired by the tickers of 24-hour cable news, Tickershock is an RSS and Atom news reader that displays news feeds anywhere on your screen in a animated crawl or billboard display.

Tickershock is a departure from typical RSS applications that emulate traditional web browser or email reader environments. Focusing on the "push" nature of the technology, Tickershock aims to be a passive experience – but only until you decide a headline is worth exploring: a double-click on a news headline brings up a "News Inspector" (or your default browser) from which you can explore a story in greater depth.

And since it's optimized for performance, Tickershock requires a fraction of the CPU time used by more conventional stock and news tickers, freeing you to work but keep an eye on the news all the time.

What's new in this version:

Channel/Schedule Management. Simplified process for creating new "empty" Channels and Schedules.

Bug fixes. URLs and links can again be dragged to Tickershock icon, "feed://" specifier now recognized in Channel Guide, major memory leak patched.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

Tickershock CommentaryAny chance on opening this up so the community can further it's development? - Version: 2.0, 11/23/2008 09:44AM PST

For the life of me I can't find a decent rss ricker for OS X anywhere. I've tried them all and they either crash or have been abandoned to an eternal Rosetta existence. Is there any chance the developer might donate the code to the open source community in order to pump this tool up to leopard suaveness and speed? I'd be happy to spearhead the initiative. Or maybe it's simply time to bust out the Xcode.

Seems to work at first, but it crashes after a while, and it definately eats your channels. The UI is stupid about changes (saving changes is a nightmare), but even if you survive that: I just lost about 100 feed definitions after a crash.
