Product Description:

After getting CallVantage, I felt that the missing piece was the ability to dial numbers directly from my computer. Of course, you can enter the number in the CallVantage phonebook and then use ClickToDial, but what if it's a phone number from a web page or a person in your OS X Address Book? That's why this script was born. CallVantage Dialer is an AppleScript that automates the process of dialing a number through the CallVantage website.

Once installed, the script can be used as both an Address Book Plug-In and directly from the Script Menu (or via Quicksilver, LaunchBar, or whatever).

From the Address Book, simply click the label next to the number and choose Dial with CallVantage. When run as a script, if there is a phone number on the clipboard, it will be dialed. Otherwise, you will be prompted for the phone number to dial.

To dial a number from Quicksilver:
1. Activate Quicksilver.
2. Start typing the name of the person you want to call.
3. Once they show up, press either / or the right arrow key.
4. Type hp for home phone, mp for mobile phone, etc.<
5. Press tab and type cv to select CallVantage Dialer
6. Press enter.
(This actually takes longer to explain than to use :-).

If you have Growl installed, you will receive a notification as the number is being dialed. (Growl 0.6 or later is required).

Installation instructions are in the included "Read Me First" file.

What's new in this version:

  • Quicksilver action support.
  • Allow passing a number to the script using LaunchBar.
  • Growl 0.6 fixes and support.
  • Automatic conversion of +XX-number to 011-XX-number for international dialing.
  • Migrated from saving in text file to saving in a plist.
  • Added Install and Uninstall scripts.

Thanks to a speedy reply from the developer, I fixed my password problem and can now use the script. It is terrific. Nice job!

If you enter the wrong password as I did, just trash Home/Library/Preferences/com.nvdesign.cvdial.plist

CallVantage Dialer CommentaryHow do I change password? - Version: 1.3, 3/7/2005 05:31PM PST

Really would love to use this product. However upon installation, I accidentally keyed the wrong password for my callvantage account. Now I cannot get the script to make the phone call, because CallVantage does not recognize my password.

How do I fix this problem?
