Measuring Cup ReviewGreat Application - Version: 1.2.4, 9/13/2009 03:24AM PST

I have been using Measuring Cup for over a year now. It is a great app. Despite being Freeware it can easily compete with the commercial versions out there.

Measuring Cup ReviewThis is really good - Version: 1.2.3, 12/24/2008 02:05AM PST

Just downloaded this for my daughter and after trying it out, got it for myself too. It is really easy to use and you can even put a picture of your completed item (mine was my mom's cookies). Anyway, this is really simple and easy, and works like iTunes.
Found a useful undocumented feature: to make sub lists (like Frosting) I just typed in Frosting as a line, then the first ingredient as the next line. Then drag that ingredient over "Frosting" and it becomes a sub element. I like that better than the sub menus that are provided. I was also able to copy and paste multiple lines simultaneously from within the program.
This is a really slick program, especially considering it is free. I haven't used it long enough to know how well it holds up, but so far so good. Also, there is a help menu that is very useful. Have not used support so no idea how that is. I tried to print a recipe and it prints in a very logical and readable way. Highly recommended.

Measuring Cup CommentaryAn email to Shallot Patch - Version: 1.2.3, 2/22/2008 06:11PM PST

Greetings from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
I just downloaded your software "Measuring Cup," began to fool around with it, and was impressed by its easiness of use, straightforwardness, and overall functionality. You wrote an elegant database application -- in several aspects more powerful than various commercial and/or shareware applications I've been trying for the past couple months -- and it will surely be my program of choice from now on.
As a newbie user, however, I'd like to suggest some features, if you don't mind. They are:

1. The ability to import xml or shtml data from the Internet. I can just imagine how hard it must be to write an algorithm that separates, classifies, and sorts all the information from an html document; nevertheless, it would be of great help if such function could be implemented, for it is a highly time-consuming process to copy and paste all the info from a recipe web page.

2. A direct link within the program to your website, where users could download and upload (trade) their recipes. With this feature, you would actually know who your users are, their tastes, and even have a general idea about their social status. This is a valuable and highly appreciated information, especially for market research companies.

3. A preset database, where users could have a formal idea (or an example) on how to systematize their own data.

Well, this is it, so far. I want to thank you for the time and energy spent into writing such a good application, and for offering it as freeware. Thank you also for reading this email and considering my ideas.

Measuring Cup ReviewThis is terrible - Version: 1.2.3, 2/9/2008 12:00AM PST

Interface is nice, but adding recipes to it takes for ever. Every time I would add an ingredient, it would change it to something else. How hard is it to add 6 Tbsp Teriyaki sauce? More than a few minutes because it kept changing either the amount, or the ingredient with the last thing typed.

Measuring Cup ReviewSimple and straight forward. - Version: 1.2.3, 1/7/2008 08:56AM PST

I'm using Measuring Cup 1.2.3 and I have to say that not only am I impressed by the app, but also the fantastic response by the creators of this program. My opinion on hardware/software is based on the motto: if I need to read instructions, and the program is counter-intuitive and confusing, than it just doesn't hold up for me; this is why I work on a mac and not a pc. As soon as I downloaded Measuring Cup, I just started typing away, and now I have a nice little collection of some of the many recipes I have and will enter. A simple and great way to organize all the recipes I have on note cards, newspaper clippings, napkins, into a neat (and back-up able) file that I can share with others.
By the service and communication I have had with this company, I am certain that Measuring Cup will only improve from version to version. I look forward to 1.3 sometime. And now that I know I like the program, I think I will work through some of the (simple) instructions.
Keep up the good work.

I Like that it was small. But it still didnt have what I wanted. I would recommend this to others if they wanted something small and easy to use. But would warn them on the measuring terms.

We are impressed with the ease of use and the ability to create sub-recipes within a main recipe. Creating categories is easy. And, it is free!

I've tried about every recipe management software and this is the best one jet.

(+)
+ not a single crash jet
+ possibility to create sub-recipes (pretty much theonly software I found that could do that)
+ easy to use
+ easy interface

(-)
- it's not possible to change the file destination jet
- it's not possible to print all recipes at once

After all a good software. I really recommend it

Measuring Cup ReviewExcellent Recipe Software for Mac - Version: 1.2, 5/4/2006 10:58PM PST

I did a pretty extensive search for Mac friendly recipe software. I actually paid for a recipe software program that was big on show and lacking in just about everything else. I would gladly have paid my $20 for this software versus the other.
